I want my street cabled now! :(

How 200mb affects capacity and performance is irrelevant. They can't handle peak time traffic on their existing network (certainly in Cambridge). Get that sorted first, kthx.

I wish I had decent speeds. I live deep into a big estate nearly a mile from the nearest cable. Current speeds are around 300K/sec download and around 60k/sec upload. The phone line isn't great but is underground so they won't do anything about it.

A friend has the fast cable which is great but he keeps trashing hard drives from torrent downloading lol.

No cable in my area but i'm happy enough. £26pm for inclusive local, national and international calls 24/7 and broadband.

I'm using cable where I am now, but the street that my house is on don't have cable :(

ADSL sucks.

Parents moved into a house in 1995. Cable and Wireless (Virgin) said that the street was planned to have cable installed but didn't have an exact date. It hasn't been done yet. They were new builds. You would think it would be an easy hit to them, dropping a cable into a hole while the street is being laid. cheaper to install and probably a higher uptake if everyone is new to the street rather than people who already live there who might already have broadband.
This is exactly the same case for my parents' house, including the year, 1995.

Paying for 8mbps, getting 2. And I download a shed load.
I don't pay the bill though, my parents do, I can't complain about something thats free.
It'd be a godsend to get some epic virgin media 50mbps in this joint though.

we live on a private road so virgin wont dig it up, its about 15 meters to the main road :( it dont stop them bombarding us with flyers for 50mb internets tho.

Hire a mini excavator and dig it yourself?

I don't think I've lived in any road which has had cable. My current road was built in 2003 and certainly doesn't have it although we still get junk mail from Virgin ....

I am in the same boat, i have aournd 1.5mb line adsl, because of where I live I doubt I will ever have the option for cable. Unless adsl providers can squeeze more out of my line then my max will be 1.5

I would move if I could persuade my Mom that leaving the house she loves is worth it for fast internet that she rarely uses... Humhum :(

I'm sorry, 'Mom'? Is that what the kids are saying nowadays? Grrr.

I'm nice and close to our exchange, so I get faster broadband on an up-to-8-meg connection than I did where I used to live on up-to-24 be*. Would like Virgin mainly for the TV, but we're in a village so I doubt they'll bother.

8mb here. I have no complaints, it seems very fast. Everything downloads quickly. I used to have 512 which was a bit painful at times, then went to 2mb which was a lot better, and now currently at 8.

pff ive been waiting for bethere to come into my area for ages! Im on sky 16mb unlimited, its not that bad tbh.

This 21cn bt keep going on about though.. Ive been looking on samknows.com and they say its rated up to 24mb. Well wants the point when cable does 100mb+?
