was just making the point that even if the actual pruchase price does drop into something that is affordable for you, the servicing and running costs are still huge and will be unaffordable for most.

Shock as expensive cars have high running costs.

You'll find that this is the same with all cars though, not just exotica.

More misconception than fact I believe. Its not the most loved of expensive Fiats but most owners who can afford the cars in the first place say their bad press is a bit unfair.

just based on a blast I had in my M3 against one, the M3 absolutely slaughtered it to an extent that really surprised me

hahahah :p

For anyone glancing and curious:

3.5 V8 producing 380 HP and 363 NM
1350 kg (dry)

Top speed of 183 MPH
0-62 MPH in 4.7 sec

You'd need to remap a 335d from 286 HP to about 460 HP for it to stand a chance! Even then the noise from the Ferrari would make the BMW go actually slower.

Whoops, faster than I thought it was. The important thing is, it's an awesome car.

Thanks for the comments everyone, glad you like them, definite shame about the air quality though.

Those photos really pop - how do you do it? I'd be interested in any post-production steps you chose to use on these shots.

It's more to do with lighting. I use a couple of speedlites positioned around the car to light it up.

The processing on these is pretty minimal with a bit of a contrast boost and a bit of a sharpen.

Servicing doesn't seem that horrendous to me for what you get.

800 for major service, don't people pay that for an M3 for the expensive inspection? Ok cambelt is pricey, but £750 from a specialist? Hell a 172/182 cambelt costs £500 from a specialist.

I guess the frequency at which they are needed is the killer

Ok things like the manifolds are expensive, but they are on most performance cars I bet.

Well they would, they stumped up a fair bit of cash for one. ;) :p

:D LOL. Very true. Although the chap I know with the 348 hates it. He wanted to buy a german saloon of some sort but his mate talked him into buying it. I can't honestly remember the last time it saw daylight and I'm sure I've seen him wince everytime someone mentions he still owns it :D

I'm not under any illusion it will be a quick motor. My old Type RA Impreza would toast it (at least until the gears ran out) but its not all about speed.

I wouldn't push it anyway, its just the event of driving a Ferrari. I've heard dissapointed comments on 355 ownership too. I don't really think Ferrari built "mainstream" fast sports cars until the 360 (Not including the Fs and specials)

Thats the impression i get from PH.

The 355 and cars prior will throw up random bills as stuff fails, which being ferraris can be huge.

If you want a reliable well built ferrari thats not fragile you need a 360 or 430. Silverstone have a fleet of F430s for their supercar track day things, mate of mine at work used to work for one of the people who know is quite senior up at silverstone, and apparently the F430s get hammered all day long by noobs and dont skip a beat.
