Im keeping my passat as a daily, next week it goes in to have washer jets fixed, windows fixed, etc.

Im looking at some tuning options, but not really sure what road to go down other than a remap which should bring it up to around 170hp and 300lb/ft. Is there anything else i can do to make it quicker, 220ish hp would be nice.

Also where can i find a full leather interior that doesnt cost the £900 they cost on ebay ? not bothered about heated seats etc.

And finally, can anyone suggest some non chavvy 18/19" wheels ? Im willing to pay say £2k for them aslong as they are worth it. I am considering bentley gt wheels, but everyone seems to be doing this. I also need a suspension kit, would rather go for dampers and shocks over coilovers (because i find they ruin the ride quality).

Paid off £2k of bank debt last week so feel time to give my daily some TLC. :D

Save your money and put it into something else at a later date tbh.

Personaly.. I'd go for a remap, better brakes to cope with that extra power. Better interior, and OEM wheels. But suspension is a rather major thing to be doing on a passat, although I can see where you're coming from with that.. as the parents car (same as yours!) is a complete boat to drive in comparison to my car.

170bhp & 300 ft/lbs isn't a bad figure for that car though.. any more and its becoming dangerous ;)

You'll struggle to get anywhere near 170bhp reliably and 220 would be completely daft.

To get to the sort of power you want, and by the time you add the bits you want to add, you're going to spend more than the car is worth and probably lower it's value.

Keep it, fix what needs fixing and put your money towards something better in the future

Bigger, front mounted intercooler, bigger injectors, bigger turbo. Of course you'll need to get it mapped again afterwards.

As for "non-chavvy" 18/19" wheels... Have you looked at VWs OEM range of wheels?

Don't forget to take some really poor quality pictures of it afterwards, we all love to see them :p

Come on, this is some serious troll action! One week he is selling, the next keeping and modifying … rinse and repeat. :o

I like the way he has just felt the relief of paying off £2,000 of banking debt, so celebrates by spending well over £2,000 on modifying a car he doesn't want to keep week-in, week-out.

Logic++

Remap it and leave it, it's the most cost effective way to get extra out of the car. Apart from that it'll cost stupid money to do anything. I'd leave styling mods as well, nothing worse than a derv rep wagon with Bentley wheels and dropped so low it can't get over bumps.

Its only money, got a good income coming in now (wether you believe me or not, i dont care) on the side so why not ?

A mate has a 300hp fabia, and still gets 60mpg driven normally, its so fun! so i dont think 220hp is much to ask of the same engine ?

If it helps i have a t38 .63 stashed away somewhere in the garage ? but im not sure i can use it and it might be too big, as its rated for around 380hp.

Why? 170BHP is a perfectly attainable figure for the PD130 unit*, pretty much all of the reputable tuners (Jabba, Revo, Superchips (bluefin) etc) offer remaps to this level.

Perhaps you are talking about reliable in a different sense (the rest of the car rather than the power provided by the map)?

As for 220BHP, it is do-able yet would cost quite a lot and realistically is not worth it.

*Assuming of course that we are talking about the PD130 unit.

Yup, PD130, i dont want to go and spend 6k on getting that figure (though the 450ish lb/ft would be nice) but it would be fun surely ?

Why not? Where is the sense in spending 3.5k (wheels/trim/map/whatever) on a 2k car?

Just sell it, add some money and buy something better.

But the other car i want to buy has high service costs and breaks a lot (apparently) and im told to keep the passat atleast as a daily driver (but its slow hence this thread).

So im being told to sell it, and to keep it, by the same people.
