APB beta

im pretty sure theres an NDA so id prob edit your post Gzero just in case someone is a goody 2 shoes. And one might have heard or imagined its more involved than that.

I like it, but its irritatingly laggy. I just cant be bothered playing it till it is less so.

Its a lot more involved when a gang of crims gets dispatched against you. :D

Server is based in Germany. I base that on my recollection of a post about the "most kills competition", that said the winner would be a heavy hitter based in Germany cause its where the server is.

I just think the environment looks bare since I've been playing GTA4:EFLC. EFLC looks so much better, and slightly better still when u run ENBmod. http://enbdev.com/

They've been known to mix up their GMT and BST so it could actually end on 23:00 rather than midnight on that Sunday.

Get playing!

I checked the playtimes page after seeing this post and then realised that your post was not out of date.

Been testing for 10 months but haven't played for the last month and it seems they are close to release? Just from the amount of people now testing/length of play.

My main question is;
Have they sorted out hit registry?
Don't want to download a 5GB patch to find out they've decided to ignore it, which it seemed they have for nearly an entire year. I guess I could just play and find out, I would buy this game if it is fixed but with games like BC2 also having the same problems I probably won't. It's a shame the main point in games such as these are "shooting" and it's the most broken thing.

Not when I last played, can't even hit a stationary target when my crosshair is on the enemy sometimes (maybe half the time), npc people and vehicles are fine but other players don't seem to be in synch due to the server code or latency I assume. That and the terrible car handling and the general lack of depth to the gameplay, I don't really think it's worth buying just to play dress up, which is fun but not enough on it's own.

Although having enjoyed fast paced fps games like quake for years I'm rather unforgiving when other games mess up on what I see as 'the basics' so other peoples mileage may vary.

This lol.

I just spam in people's direction. Usually get the hit indicator. If I'm taking fire I usually make a quick decision to stay and fight depending on how shots I have taken already, no point in running if I'm about to die since they will just lag kill me round the corner.

To be honest, I don't like this game. The beta engine carries over flaws that makes it easy to guess which engine license they bought for this game.

I am impressed with the MMO component they have managed to get going though, pretty cool seeing someone drive by you whilst your busy going about your own mission in this fashion (outside the realms of RPG style games).

sad to hear the hit thing has been there for so long and them not do anything about it. i thought it was new as ive not played very long. its a massive thing to not try and fix asap!
this hit problem is why ive given up on it in the hopes of them fixing it before release. guess i will be let down :(

Woah woah wait, this game is now planned to be pay to play?
First it was free to play, then micro transactions.

I don't see them ever fixing the major problems that have haunted the beta for over a year, close to release date. I can see this annoying a lot of people who do actually want to continue on to live.

In fact, everyone I have played with, rl and friends in game none of them did not have these problems. :(

APB is getting patched more often now, gameplay is a lot more smooth, driving has improved tenfold, hitboxes will get there eventually.

Don't want to break NDA and say too much - but yeah...it's brilliant for me :)

No chance I'll be paying for it.

Not enough long term playability for me and the cost could be massive!!

What are RTW Points, and what are they used for?

RTW Points are a virtual currency purchased with real world money and are used to purchase services from Realtime Worlds such as Gametime.

You can also use RTW Points to purchase items from other players on the Marketplace or sell your own items on the Marketplace to gain additional RTW Points.

When you purchase a copy of APB, we give you an initial 100 RTW Points free to spend any way you choose.

The following RTW Points packages will be available at release:

200 RTW Points package ($ 4.99, € 4.49, £ 3.99)

What is the difference between Gametime Hours and Gametime Unlimited - why the choice?

We believe that everyone plays online games at different levels of participation – some only play for a few hours per week or month, but many others play for several hours a week or more.

Because of this diversity, we are offering the choice in value based on your specific play-style.

The following Gametime packages are available at release:

GAMETIME Packages (RTW Points Cost)

Gametime 20 Hours (280)

Unlimited 30 Days (400)

Unlimited 90 Days (1140)

Unlimited 180 Days (2160)

Gametime Hours allow you to play at your own pace – jump in and jump out when you want, and only the hours you actually play in an Action District are consumed. In addition, Gametime Hours never expire without use – so you always know the time you’ve purchased will be available until used.

Gametime Hours are great value for those planning on infrequent or short play sessions.

Gametime Unlimited Each Gametime Unlimited package grants unlimited Action District access for a period of consecutive days.

Gametime Unlimited packages are a great value for those who expect to play frequently and in longer sessions.

Why do I have to pay an ongoing cost?

APB is a persistent, online game with servers hosted by Realtime Worlds out of state-of-the-art datacenters to ensure the highest quality experience for all players – no inconsistent peer-to-peer hardware or networking issues.

Your ongoing purchases go towards the costs of maintaining this high quality service and help fund additional development for ongoing content and gameplay additions.

What can I do in APB if I don't want to pay further costs?

Once you’ve purchased APB via retail and established your Realtime Worlds account, you will always have free access to the Social Districts – including the Customization studios and the Marketplace.

Does Realtime Worlds offer items for sale that cost RTW Points?

No. We believe that you and other players should drive the item economy within APB via the Marketplace.
Additionally, it is our belief that the prices for Marketplace sales should be set by you the player. You can choose to sell items on the Marketplace for either RTW Points or in-game currency.

Can I create items and sell them to other players?

Yes. Items need to be manufactured. However, following overwhelming feedback, we have removed manufacture costs from the game.

Why charge such low RTW Points value Manufacturing costs at all?

We believe the quality of the experience would suffer if the Marketplace were inundated with junk. The intent of the nominal Manufacturing charge is to prevent high volume of low quality items from crowding the Marketplace listings.

Additionally, we are investigating systems that would recognize reputable sellers and save on their Manufacturing costs.

Why is the amount I receive for a successful Marketplace sale different than the final auction price?

Similar to other auctions, there is commission on successful transactions.

However, there are no listing fees nor is there any charge for unsuccessful Marketplace auctions.

Subs and microtransactions - use RTW Points to purchase items from other players on the Marketplace? Horrible.

Is this still unbearably laggy?

The servers do seem to be struggling at the moment although it is a Beta. This will allready be "gold" I would assume although as with ANY MMO, I expect MANY MANY patches post launch with a day 1 patch almost a shoe in.

This game has WIN all over it.

I think patience will be rewarded.

I have pre-ordered.

BRING IT ON.
