APB beta

One might also say being able to play for more than 2 hours a week would make it more fun and the beta more effective! ;)

Us heavy hitters got a couple of week long tests, FF/SS groups were primary recruited as stress testers.

Was playing GA and completely forgot about this week :(

Ah right, is there anyway to get a Heavy Hitter invite at this stage?

Would love some more playtime on this.

Maybe its because were stress testing but for FF/SS testers the only impression of the game we get is 4 hours a week (2 last week) watching a bunch of well geared heavy hitters warp around in an fps reminiscent of 1.6 CS when 56K baud modems were awesome. Just when youre getting a handle on what to do youre booted out for another 7 days. This has gone from a 'must buy' for me to 'maybe if theres an open beta'.

I have so far found no sympathy for loading up the game with 1 minute to spare and finding out I need to spend the next 1h50min downloading the new patch (servers don't allow login within last 15min either).

the patch for the SS session was available for over a week before the event so there was plenty of time to have the client updated and be ready to beta test.

It will endup like Cryptic games. They will start the load testing when game goes retail and it will all fall apart.

the game is in CB now, no-one knows how the full game will be upon release so speculation is not prudent, me thinks ....

One might be over exhausted and do too much if it was more than 2 hours a week. Epsecially when one believes that things are always improving

Awesome.

Realtime Worlds and EA have announced the shipping dates and pricing structures for their upcoming MMORPG version of cops and robbers, APB. APB is slated for release in North America on June 29, in Europe on July 1, and in the UK on July 2.

APB takes the universal theme of Criminals and Enforcers and brings it to a persistent, open-world, online multiplayer setting in the modern, crime-ridden fictional city of San Paro. Some players will achieve notoriety by feeding on the city, its people and its businesses…the Criminals. Some will live by a higher code and instead feed on the criminals and their organizations…the Enforcers. This dynamic where players become the core content for other players is one of the many unique features of APB.

A number of different pricing and subscription options are being made available. Let's take a quick look at what those are.

Gamers can purchase a retail version of APB either in-store or via digital download at standard retail price of SRP $49.99, £34.99, €49.99. The game includes 50 hours of action gameplay out of the box plus unlimited time in APB’s social districts customizing, socializing and trading in the marketplace. Once the 50-hours are up, players have flexibility: top up their game time from as little as SRP $6.99 (£5.59, €6.29) for an additional 20 hours, or opt to purchase a 30-day unlimited package for only SRP $9.99 (£7.99, €8.99) with discounts available for 90 and 180 days. In addition to this flexible payment model, players can also earn game time by actually playing the game. APB provides avenues for accomplished gamers or creators to earn rewards for their creativity and subsidize their ongoing costs with their in-game efforts.

Those with the greatest talents could theoretically play the game for free* using this system. APB is currently in beta, with the next server stress test lined up for this Sunday. Order information can be found at the APB website or at the EA Store.

*After the initial cost of the title.

Grabbed a EA Store code from cokezone a couple of days ago and picked this up for £25 :)

Beta is good, worthy of an investment to see how it goes.

Like Global Agenda, APB is not an MMORPG !!! sure it has elements of the genre but anyone who plays Aion, WoW or Lotro purchasing this would be very very dissapointed...

it is good fun tho, one might say !!

;)

Yeah it's strange one, technically it's 50v50 but it's very rare to get anything above 4v4, had a couple of 10v10s that were good fun, needs more of them!
