Help! - New CPU UPGRADE not working

Swapped out E4300 for E8400, it powers up, then stays on one of those intro flash screens, can't get into BIOS.



Yes, the MOBO supports 45NM.



Any ideas?

Have you tried booting with the e4300 back in?Just in case anything else is amiss.

Yeah, it's fine. Just reset the clock etc after CMOS. I'm on the E4300 now.

Oh no, not the dreaded BIOS update.

It was BIOS, updated it in 5 mins, I was expecting a mare.

problems like this can sometime reflect back more to your RAM - When you reinstalled cpu did you ground yourself etc so not to cause any static damage to mobo or memory etc. Anyway you can try your system with a different cpu
