Is Life to Short?

I think the statement 'Life's too short' is more in reference to how quickly and easily it can be ended unexpectedly and at a moment's notice. Therefore the meaning in the statement is to treat each moment of life as being precious as you do not know how long your life is going to be and how many more of those moments you are going to have...

Having said that (and bringing us crashing back down to earth) there is a fair proportion of our time that is just mere drudgery and going through the motions, but as others have said it helps us appreciate the truly special moments even more.

I'd agree about life accelerating as you get older though...

It only gets faster the older you get cause of having a job and routine.

Just think how crap life is.

From around 20 or less, all the way up to 65 or more, most people have jobs that are tbh, not all that good, now that's not a way to live a life, it's a pretty crap way, but unfortunately is the way we have developed and need money to live.

that's the way I'm looking at stuff now - even as a teen =/

within the next 10years I'll be just working for the rest of my life no doubt. 5/6 days a week.. Paying all the damn bills. That's no fun.. And the fun things you do at night and on the weekends, can they really keep life fun along with all the working

It depends, if you live your full life and achieve things where you could theoretically look back and be proud of them then no, life is never too short. However if it's cut off before you have the chance to go on and do the things you normally would have, then yes. Rather obvious that though. :P

A fulfilled life is never too short. Although there's always more you could have done, I always look at the things I have done. :)

I disagree, I have a rubbish ( or well, I don't think it's rubbish for my age, I'm still going to uni after all, but a person who has worked there 10 years might think otherwise) job but I enjoy working and doing something useful. The majority in our countries have and spend their spare money on fun things. One buys a Porsche, the other goes traveling many times a year to far countries, successful people do both. Life is not crap, even simple ( cheap, or even free) things like sitting on a terrace in the sun watching girls in shorts walking by is great :), or listening to your fav music.

I for one, am looking forward at getting a job not all people can do, earning money with it, then spending the money on things I like. Nothing wrong with working!

Isn't life's length relative to an individual's longevity anyway? So it can't be too short or long in any sense. Someone has lived their life, however long it was.

Life is too short usually when you are reaching the end of it and regretting all the things you could have done and the thinking about the people you are leaving behind...... either that or when you are trying to get your kids to do something and they are moving so, so slowly :D

not as good as it sound, in fact you dont feel anything after some point as death is something you dont care about.

add to that that everyone you would ever love will die while you are alive.

sometimes someone own death is better than people he loves

Or you could look at it like everyone that you love dies when you do as they would seize to exist in your reality.

I am sure you would think life was too short if you knew when you were going to die. If someone said you had a week left to live I am sure you would think differently.

And that's exactly where I am now.
I have done so many things in my life that I feel fulfilled and if I was given 3 months to live tomorrow yes I would be upset but I would also think what a great life I've had and how much I've fitted in.
The other week when I walked out of the Great Pyramid I turned to the wife and said 'I can die happy now' and I meant it.
Some people live to an old age never doing anything.
The bloke over the road from me spends all his time in the pub and that's all he's ever done.
He's never been on holiday and he wonders why his wife left him.
He has got nothing at all interesting to say about his 55 years BUT if that's made him happy then fair enough.

I would have thought that life would be longer/quicker as your older. Starting like say 55+ ish.
I can't see my grandparents feeling that their life is 'short' now. As they don't do anything in their mid-late 70's. My grandad is constantly looking after my grandma who has alzheimers or is at work. So being frustrated and not doing anything 'fun' in my mind would make life go slower...

I agree with this. I've been to a few places but I want to travel more, there are still so many places and things that I'd love to see, the Pyramids being one of them. I love holidays where you actually "do" something, I can't stand beach holidays. It's nice to relax but I think it's such a waste of a holiday and a waste of going to another country when you don't see any of it other than the beach, pool and hotel bar.

I've experienced a lot in my life and I do feel I've done a fair bit but I really want to achieve more and I'm working towards that. I actually want to see more of this country too which I'm also working on. Some amazing places and things to see right on our doorstep.

Life's definitely too short if you spend 40 hours a week doing something you don't find enjoyable. That includes working in dull jobs, commuting to dull jobs etc...

There's plenty of time to live a good life and be happy. But not if you try and squeeze your life around the edges of a rubbish job. I know people who spend more time sitting next to colleges they don't like than they spend with their baby and wife - madness.

Those are the questions we ask because we are relatively spoilt. If we weren't living comfortably and taking our survival for granted we would not be asking those questions.

In the 'first world' life expectancy is longer than it's ever been, and spending power to enjoy it as you like is better than it's ever been. But being human, we want more time and more spending power.

Life is short for children born with AIDS and living a life of poverty in Africa.

How can it be too short when it's the only personal comparison we have for time length? Everybody dies one day, so you won't know, Yeah people may outlive you for a few years but you have no other length of time to compare it too that anybody has experienced.

Life sucks generally.
Work, get old, die.

Once I stop enjoying life every so often, I will want to die. At the moment the crappy times I reckon will be outweighed by the payoff of all the crap I have to put up with. It's keeping me going just about.

It depends at what age I stop enjoying life, then i'll say whether it's to long or short.

I'd probably like to live forever to see the end of the world/humanity. Although I'd have to have some clause built in where I kept the health and appearance of a 21 year old permanently.

Is life too short? Depends what you make of it I think. Seize the day and all that jazz.
