Hi

Got an old boy in his 90s who just had a epson for about 2/3 years and its caused him no end of trouble.
Mostly user error, like cant work out it has a paper jam ect but as of late it had to go to a shop to have its ink counter reset for £20! compleet ripoff on epson part. And now it always complains the inks arnt genuin? so its getting binned.

Now does any 1 know if HP are simurlar or not? do HP accept 3rd party inks?

cheers

Thought about getting a laser? The printer and ink costs more but it will last a lot longer. Iv not had to replace the ink in my old HP for years.

Just get the cheapest multifunction you can, and bin it when it breaks. I got a HP c4180 for about £30 in the sale. I really don't see the point in spending a lot of money on printers unless you're going for a pro line (I also have a HP B9180) which are totally different build and produce far superior results.

All printers around the £30 mark are gunna be much the same quality I would imagin, best off just getting what ever is on sale etc.

Iv a really old black and white HP laser I got for free. Had it for around 5 years with no problems and not needed to change the ink. Got a cheapo inkjet for the colour prints which is hardly used.

If you had of asked here I have the program that is used to reset the counters!
It is also meant to be coupled with the changing of the ink pad underneath and a couple of other bits.

A black laser will cost £79. the compatible carts are £18 each and good for 1500 prints (Approx coverage 5% blah blah). I have one I keep meaning to stick on the MM.

The reason the counter goes up faster is the non-genuine carts increase it about 5 times faster than originals, using originals it should last a lot longer.

BUt as said above there is a program to reset the counter.
