Grumble grumble...cheap car

You must see now surely....its GOD telling you to just keep the Saab!

And the 300 quid of course.

Frustrating situation, but I suppose its better than a kick in the nuts!

Hope you do manage to sell it for a decent price. I'll keep coming back to this thread just to find out what you do eventually buy! ;)

It's just incredibly frustrating, when you're all set for things to be sorted then a spanner gets thrown in the works. Could he not have done the research before wasting my time?

If it's any consolation I had a right time of it selling the Leon a few months back. Proper off-on-off-on-off-on between 2 potential buyers. Nearly decided to keep it in the end.

Stick to what you want to do if its right for you. Oh and keep the deposit if you can.

You just gained 300 quid for an hour of your time. I would be pretty happy. You can get a return to Paris for 70 quid, rest on hotels and keep the Saab ;)

To be honest I'd rather the situation was over and I can just get on with enjoying my summer!

He sent me a text saying it's off because he's been told about those issues and could I arrange to send the deposit back. I just corrected him on the issues and didnt say anything about the deposit, so will see if he comes back to me!

Might be worth explicitly saying he aint having the deposit back; you're only delaying the inevitable otherwise :p

Yea tell him straight, you charge 600 quid an hour for wasted time.

Well I'm still hopeful he might be able to talk some sense into his friend so dont want to be too confrontational just yet

Do this another 20 times and you can keep your car and have holidays. Trouble is, it has taken 19 pages just to get to this point.

I refer to my original point about the Saab depreciating to the value of the cars you're looking at by the time you actually do anything.

Confrontational lol i would be more that Confrontational if some one had my 300 quid surly it's just an gentleman's agreement broken no law broken.

When someone hands you a deposit, you block out all other possible transactions; you can no longer sell the vehicle to anyone else.

It seems fairly reasonable to me that the guy is going to lose some, if not all of that deposit.

The obvious thing is for the old fella to come and drive the car, if not drive one local to him and if he likes the ride, buy yours.

Either way, he's done his deposit in cold blood, as Jez said, that is the point of a deposit.
