The Dark Tower

Personally, I liked the first book, albeit the updated version. There's not a lot of meat to it, but it introduces Roland and his nemesis Walter O'Dim, not to mention Jake; gives little hints about Roland's past and childhood; and also shows how he is stone-cold-killer (the town of Tull). Oh yeah, and it also sets up the number 19!

books are great..

till the end (last book) its like king simply ran out of juice and went for the most bizarre thing he could <Spoiler> writing himself into the storyline?! <Spoiler> Why?!! it was all so unnecessary.

No offence but I specifically said no spoilers in the OP. It wasn't very well disguised, and so I hope that isn't a stupidly big reveal.
