Specifically Bangor "International" airport, Maine...

It seems there are very few/no direct flights and any that there are seem to be exorbitantly expensive (over £1k return) so I was wondering if the collective might and knowledge of OcUK may be able to get me there cheaper! :p

I need to get to the airport for/at around noon on the 23rd July and leave on or just after the 23rd of August.

At the moment I'm thinking of flying indirect to Boston (via one of a variety of Canadian airports it seems, think Ottowa came up on the cheapest indirect flight), which costs around £560 return and then get a coach up to Bangor the next day. Direct flights to Boston seem to be around £100 more expensive on skyscanner but I'm wondeing if i'll just waste that money on a motel anyway?

What other airports might be worth looking at, where I can then get another form of transport to Bangor?

Thanks. :)

That is an option... :p

Not sure on the way back though, need to be back by the beginning of September at the latest. :p

*goes off to wonder how much a ship crossing would actually be....*

If I was an international Drug dealer/Spy would I be worrying about cost? :p

If I was I'd be going first class or just take my own plane. :p

You could be a really bad international drug dealer, or on a covert mission which happens to centre around a lot of poor people and thus you need to get there cheap as to not arouse suspicion.
You're trying to throw me off the scent, I'm onto you...

If I'm correct, I may be able to help. Email in trust

US airways for 765 return to Bangor? Although 2 stops and would get in the day before anyway so might not be economical!

Where does that go Via? May be able to get a flight to that place and then a coach or something.

Idealy I don't want to spend any more than £700 overall and TBH i'd like to spend even less than that if possible (but I know at this late stage that probably isn't going to be possible.

Hmm, just looking on skyscanner again and there is one returning on saturday and sunday for 739... but the overnight stay comes into play (and I'd have to stay overnight at Bangor to get to the airport on time on the return).

What sort of prices am I looking at to stay somewhere in/near the airport in New York?

Looking at it the best bet seems boston and then bus but ud have to get there the day before meaning an overnight stay.
United to boston on the 22nd is 575 (not cheapest by £10 but least flying time by a way) then greyhound is bout $35 to get to bangor for 11.15am leaving boston at 6am.

This means over 600 already then u gotta think of how much an overnight stay will be and sitting on a coach for 5hrs.... probs worth just paying the bit extra although flight time is agggggges and actually less doing the fly bus route.

Yeah Boston does look the most likely. I did wonder about seeing if I could get a Coach from Ottowa to save some time but the coach takes 20 hours and actually goes through Boston anyway...

Problem is I'd have to do an ovenight stay both ways with the Bangor flight anyway whereas the coach trip would be only one overnight stay from what I can see.

Anyone use Concord coached BTW? They are another option to Greyhound and seem to do better timings.
