yeh i think the teufels are very fairly priced, i got them on launch for £180, which was slightly pricy, they then went up to £200 which i would consider expensive, but at £160 i'd consider them very fairly priced. If i was being critical of them i would say you could find them overly analytical (they pick up noises etc you dont usually hear in songs, rock sounds the worst on them, there just too much going on, R&B and dance sounds good aswell as classical, although i've found the speakers pick up on the way classical music is recodred- you can hear it was recorded in a hall, rather than a studio-- it will pick up on poorly produced music), and ofcourse the bass isnt going to be anything like a subwoofer, although i find ( and i like bass) that its perfectly adequate ( i have bass on 2/3). You don't get the deep thudding like that of a subwoofer, but you notice the detail of the bass. Aside from that i have no complaints, i have never really gone above half volume, ( they go very loud), also you have about 2 weeks ( the site says 8, but thats for german customers i think) to order a collection and have it returned, free of charge, all your money back. (if you're relying on this double check first), and ofcourse you also get 2 years warranty on amp, and 12 years on speakers. You say you can't fit an amp and bookshelves, while these arent as big as an amp and bookshelves, they are sizeable. ( check the sizing to make sure you'l fit them in). Also the cable comes out about 3" from the back of the speaker (its thick cable) so you cant have them pressed against the wall. The usb cable isnt included in the package odly enough, so you could buy one off the site, or off overclockers. you've also gotta think about where to put the amp; the cables for the speakers arent majerly long, so it has to be on the same desk as the speakers really. Teufel advises you to put it under the monitor, but i dont really think its large enough to safely put a monitor on, so ironically you could be in the situation where getting a proper amp would have saved desk space(sitting a monitor on a large amp). You can see theres quite a lot of reviews for it now, the majority of them speak very highly of them, and generally the only complaints are that it (was) pricey, (when it was £180/£200) but i feel £160 is a good price. The stereo imaging is also something very good, which i have odly gotten used to. - I was using my headphones today playing L4D and it was so disorientating, i had no idea where sounds were coming from, - clearly i had got used to very good accuracy.
