applying for a bank account in the UK?

I have some friends coming over from Australia, they have UK passports and are trying to apply for UK bank accounts so they can get paid when they start working.

The problem is that they they need a UK address to apply for the bank accounts, they want to use mine (they know I just bought a new flat).

Is this ok? Or would this get me in trouble? I don't want to be rude to them but I'm a bit uneasy about it.

The address needs to be the place of their residence. Could they not hold off until they get here?

They will also need proof of address, something like a utility bill that is addressed to them or a driving licence that has the correct address on. without that they will not be able to open an account.

I'm more worried that I may be liable, for example of they go 500 quid over drawn and then go back home would I be liable because the account is registered to my Address?

I don't think you'd be liable - but definitely won't help your credit rating

wrong! credit ratings are linked to people not addresses ! i'd be more worried that they had the right Visas to work. you definitely wouldnt be liable
