How can they justify such a charge to a pay monthly customer ?

I payed it anyways to increase the resale value before the new one gets released next week. :p

I thought the EU was going to create a law that says that if you've paid for the phone (out right or over the contract duration) they cannot charge to unlock it or restrict it in any way... guess I'm just hoping

I've also heard rumours that the EU decided that operators can lock phones because it's good for competition... whatever that means
