Cancel Sky contract

Well just rang up, 30 mins on the phone to cancel.

Really get on my nerves the way they speak to you. Cant believe you want to leave us when we offer such a great service was this persons fav line, said it about 10 times!!!

Well as far as I know it is cancelled. But then again I have a feeling they might be fobbing me off again, as she said she's sending a form in the post and will call back Monday...

What do you guys think?
Umm no idea why they said that. I just had a letter in the post to confirm it and that was it.

"Hi I'm moving to Spain/USA/Austrialia etc cancel my Sky now!" and then cancel your DD at the bank.

HAHA tempting!! I'm going to see if I get this "form" in the post tomorrow, if not there will be another phonecall tomorrow. try ians technique of telling them im cancelling, my minds made up, doesnt matter what they say but im leaving

I cancelled mine as none of the channels on the package they sold me could be received. They said it was ok. 4 months later out of the blue I get a letter from a debt collector saying I owe them for the services I never received.

Looks like its all been cancelled.

Spoke to someone this morning who was a lot friendlier and not as salesman like in persuading me to stay. Told her I'd spoke to 3 people already and had no definite reply about cancelling my services and felt like i was being fobbed off.

she looked at my details and my services are being stopped following my 30 day notice and my last bill will be my last. she actually explained the form i was told about wasnt being sent to me, it was sent to the back office at sky for them to cancel my sky talk.
the broadband and tv will be stopped but because the sky talk service is being upgraded they were unable to stop my account at that time so theyve passed a form on to the back office to process the stop on my sky talk :) looks like im finally getting somewhere. they said a letter would be in the post once thats processed to confirm but i've got a service stop date of 4th 5th july

When you cancel make sure you cancel the DD from your bank account, as they always try to take money out the next month, it's a nightmare trying to get it back.

I'll ring back again today to make sure.

He was actually lying to say I'm in a new contract with them so can't leave. Luckily I had all my invoices infront of me so I told him I cant actually be in a new 12 month contract with Sky Talk yet as I only got activated in September 2009. Quickly shut up when I had all the facts :)

Amazing what lengths they will go to.

I think I rang the customer service number, pressed the numbers to get to cancellations. But I'll try again today.

I cancelled back in 2005 and adviced them I was recording the call as well and would send the tape to the police as proof of them trying to take my money after I asked them to cancel. Had no problems cancelling.

very clever!!

I've taken the girls advice and emailed them as well to confirm everything and will probably call again at the start of the week just to keep on top of everything.

As soon as I get it all cancelled I'll take your advice locky and cancel the DDs with the bank so they cant get any more out of me.

I think you get a new 12 month contract if you have sky talk and line rental involved from what they were telling me, but hey...that could all be lies knowing sky :p

When I went through to cancellations it took me an hour an a half to get the person to cancel my contract. They will do anything to keep you.

How many times can a person say "no"?

me too.... took ages I eventually had to shout at the poor guy.

I said I was leaving the UK he said where you going I said none of your business. over and over and over.

hehe

they just dont take any answer or explanation for leaving...i nearly told them to f$@k off!
I told the one bloke who asked why I was leaving for the 5th time that I didnt like to feel forced into staying or pressured and he had the nerve to say "we at sky wouldnt do that" HAHA

got the email confirmation today to say all my services will be cancelled and will stop on the 10th July :)

Rang Virgin to get a bundle from them and was able to get a good offer and £30 credit for switchin from Sky! Bonus :)

When you cancel something just say you are going travelling for a couple of years they just cancel you there and then as they know there is no way you are going to buy anything.

I normally say something like this "I want to cancel XYZ as I am going travelling for a year - oh btw do I just ring you when I am back next year to restart"

They say "Sure just ring us all cancelled have a nice time"

A lot less sales pitch that way.
