The concept of an infinite afterlife seems rather torturous to me. Let me sleep when I die.

I reckon it’s a similar state to sleeping. When you are asleep you do not know that you are sleeping (unless you have one of those weird dreams where you know you are dreaming.) But you are completely brain dead which rules out the ability to dream. So when you die you simply lose the awareness of your own conscious. You simply do not exist.

No mainly cos were just like any other animal we just die and decompose and thats it. Humans just have religion to cope with death when it comes to such matters.

This. Can't see how it can work personally. No I don't believe in God, but there's a possibility that the atoms that make you you can reform later on to remake you again, ie "reincarnation."

I do, but I'm not sure exactly what. I was brought up as a catholic and went to church, I believed in God. Sometimes I do now but sometimes I don't. I really don't know. I know some of it is wishful thinking in that I want there to be something after death but deep down I do believe there is something else.

^This to some extent, still believe in God and an afterlife but not been to church as much as I used to recently (laziness partly).

but there was a study that shown when people die there is a final burst of electrical signals though out the brain. And scientists believe that this is what causes the After life / out of body feeling / white light etc before they are bought back to life

source? I would be interested to read that. I've read quite a bit on the subject and i've not come across what you've mentioned.
