Model rockets.

Ive fired up to C class in my local park, did not have any trouble, although I am not sure about the legalities of it. The old people on the park benches didn't seem too impressed though. Oh and dog walkers annoy me, this applies to rockets and now power kiting that I do. They seem to want to walk within 3 feet of whatever I am doing to make a point or something.

I used to launch them on my local feild next to my house with no problems what so ever

In the defence of the park, it is almost 1000 acres and even yesterday when it was sunny, there was MASSIVE open areas of space. So i suppose it could be done very safely. But obviously is that "legal", hmm.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what i should be looking at purchasing?

Used to do this a lot on my local field, but being only about 200-300m squared it was a bit risky on a busy day. Non the less it was very good fun, used to make our own out of wrapping paper tubes, paper/card fins and a few cocktail sticks as a motor holder, launched these every new years up in the lake district.

I also did my A-level physics coursework on the affect of mass with the same motor size which got me a really good result and was a great piece of 'fun' coursework.

edit: obviously watch out for wind :D we had one float about 500m+ sideways with the parachute out, was a long walk through a ton of streets to find it :p

unless you are interested in building your own, the fun will wear of after a couple of launched.

This is part of the thrill definatly. When its getting towards the peak of its flight and you are waiting to see if the parachute comes out :D:cool:

Ahh many a time we have made some decent sized holes in soft ground...
