Fiesta ST 2.0 thoughts

There not bad cars had one for about 2 years now, but that seems a bit pricey. Picked mine up just under a year old with 2400 miles on and full leathers seats for 9k

Bargain!, I'll keep looking.

Thanks guys for input, the engine upgrades do sound like a good idea just a case of more searching or I may look into upgrading it after I got the car.

exactly, theres no need for people to suggest other cars really sometimes you just want a car because you like a car, no one can accuse it of being a bad car, sure its underpowered but with a 185 st that problem goes away

The ST gets an undeserved bad rep, but at the same time some people think it's some kind of sleeping giant when it isn't.

It's a decent little car and I did enjoy it when I had mine, but it had many short comings, fuel economy wasn't amazing, the handling was so-so (especially at higher speeds) and has a few mechanical niggles. That being said it's a great looking car, it doesn't cost all that much to run, certainly a step or two below the Clios and has doesn't enough poke for a road car.

You can mod them slightly to get the best out of them, but in my opinion, cars should be good from the factory and any modifications should make a good car great, not an average car acceptable. Can get big power out of them too, but throw thousands of pounds at any car and that'll pretty much be the case.

One of those cars that you might just prefer compared to the competition for one reason or another.

If you can afford the insurance, how about stepping up to a Focus ST?

Did look into that but bit to steep to be honest, already pushed my budget as far as it can go and further!

Yeah i've read about the fuel consumption not being the best, but came to expect that from a sports type. On looks the Clio's do look nice but Fiesta wins it for me. I'm not planning on racing just want a decent fun car to drive and the Fiesta so far is ticking the right boxes.

Please get the Clio 182 with cup packs! No reason to get an ST other than Ford fanboyism.

The ST is a much nicer place to be in than the Clio. That is a reason to not get the Clio.

I had one (ST) a while back and sure it wasn't the fastest of cars or the greatest of handling (compared to the Clio) it was still an enjoyable car to drive and I enjoyed every moment I had it. :)

No not really, perhaps the seat are nicer but on the hole they are both full of cheap plastics.

I've had mine (ST) for just over 3 years now. Its been a good car, no major problems (although I only do about 3k a year mileage!). Its fast enough for what I wanted, servicing is pretty cheap too.

I'll be selling mine after I get back off holiday in 2 weeks, but its nearly 5 years old come this November (55 plate) but has only got 11k miles on it!

I must echo the statement of the "nicer place to be" than the Clio as I've been in both, and while the fiesta is not leagues ahead interior wise, it just feels a better place to be than the clios. However this is just a matter of opinion.

It wont hurt to go an look and sit in a Clio 182 and see which you find better.

I took one out when I was looking at cars simply to see what the fuss was about. Put it this way, I ended up with a Leon Mk.2 - probably the king of plastic interiors - but the inside of the Clio almost drove me crazy.

Didn't feel particularly fast or slow but was a good handler.

Each to their own etc. but I don't see what the fuss is all about with them really.

It's a Renault/French it will fall apart and break down after a year....Buy the Ford, enjoy it and don't worry what the Internet says ;)

I took a 06 out today and I loved the little car. Comfy, fast and has a good quality feel to it. Id say get one over but then ill admit they aint cheap to run.

Ive gone off one now as I want something mildly fast but doesnt cost a bomb in insurance/tax/finance etc. Got the money then go for it you will love it. Does the one your looking at have the sony head unit in it?

Unfortunately it doesn't have the Sony, just the standard cd multichanger.

I'm going to hopefully take it out for a test drive tomorrow and will see what its like :)
