Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots *Snaaaaake! Edition*

I started playing this again and I'm on ACT 5 on the ship. Is there any way to get rid of the Alert?! I've been running around the map and hiding in secluded areas but the Alert just never goes away. Enemies are just respawning and I’m killing them with the aid of the MKIII before they see me but I’m still under Alert, it is seriously doing my head in. Am I being stupid? It’s been over a year since I last played it.

I've taken out two gekkos but they keep respawning. You have to unlock a door at the bottom by repeatedly pressing triangle. Thing is enemies respawn behind me and shoot me as I'm doing it so I have to start again. I just can't open the door and I can't rid of the alert to do it stealthily.

I just remembered there are frogs on the balconies, really high above you, they can see you no matter where you go. Theres a vent to get undergound right where you begin which should lose the alert or just tranq the frogs up high. But you've done it now anyway.

Sorry for bumping an old ass thread but I am starting to get the itch to playing this again.

But I only want to go through the game again if I can farm some trophies from it. Anyone have an idea when the trophy patch is coming?

Just do what i did:

learn to enjoy games for what they are, not what trophies they offer.

Was a breath of fresh air the moment i started playing Heavy Rain with the ambition of enjoying the story and not giving a monkies about the trophies.

Yea but yea but yea but trophies.

You know what I am saying?

Just go for it, I don’t think we will see them. I started playing it again a few months back and it took me a while to get use to the controls, I don't know if I was a complete noob or the game has aged but I was getting well frustrated with the way snake moves, it felt a lot more clunky than I last remember it. You get use to it though and it is still by far the best game this generation. FACT.

I'm glad it didn't have trophies, if I'm completely honest. Sometimes I just find they detract from the experience, I'd rather just enjoy the game than get trophies for doing things I was going to do anyway.

Opinion.

Yours to be precise. I'd argue that Uncharted 2, Arkham Asylum, Mass Effect, Crysis and maybe the first Gears of War have about as much right to that title.

MGS is good, but in a "s'alright I s'pose" sort of way. In order to tie up the various loose story strands, Kojima reaaly had to go ridiculously OTT with some of the elements of the story.

The gameplay was fine, but nothing we haven't seen before from the likes of Splinter Cell, and previous (and better) MGS games.
