Rage Against the Machine - Sunday 6th June 2010, Finsbury Park, London, UK

WOW. What a day...

Gallows - very good, very entertaining live, especially the frontman.
Roots Manuva - didn't really rate them, can appreciate their music but it was nothing special and performance wasn't that entertaining.
Gogol Bordello - YES. New fan here... great music and fantastic stage presence, love how they combined so many different instruments. I thought the girl was hot too, which is always a bonus...

but that was nothing compared to RATM, they took ages to come on... but the moment the first song came on, I got pushed right forward and it only took a few minutes to get separated from my friends. Pretty wild atmosphere, mosh pits opening up everywhere, had someone grab in a headlock and kiss me on the cheek lol. Eventually got back to my friends and we just headbanged and sang our way through the final few songs.

Getting out was a real bitch though, didn't realise FInsbury Park station was closed and had to walk miles to another underground station - at this point it was too late to get the coach back so we had to hop on the last train out of St Panc!

Really, really enjoyed that :D

Absolutely fantastic, can only echo the above.

Got sod all, picture wise as I was A; too far away and B; far too drunk.

I've just got home. Coach dropped me off in Liverpool at half 3 and I had to bum around on my own on a bench at the Albert Dock until the train station opened at half 5. Good times.

Why didn't I get tickets?! They were free... *SIGH*

All I can say is I saw Rage Against The Machine play in a tiny club in Oxford shortly before the release of The Battle of LA. Ha to you lot!

That's me just home.

Gallows were stunning. Why have I waited so long to see them live when I've been a fan for years?! They were far more entertaining than I thought they would be, and the Sex Pistols and The Clash covers were absolutely spot on. I also got into trouble for screaming "I don't want you passing out when you're sucking my ****" in someones ear. Quality.

Roots Manuva was alright. I love hip hop but British stuff just doesn't resonate with me, dunno why.

Gogol Bordello were a whole lot of fun. Aside from some ******** in front of me spitting on everyone and dancing like a total ****, I enjoyed!

RATM was crazy good. The crowd was nuts - I had to fight to get out of the pit and one or two brawls started to break out as I was walking through. Absolute quality performance from start to finish. CD quality sound and everything.

It's just a pity they took so long to get on, the crowd became so restless and there was far too much pushing from one side to the other. I don't mind that, in fact I expect that but it was starting to become ridiculous right before they hit the stage.

this was annoying, I had two massive guys behind me giving me hardly any breathing space, other than that, it was brilliant, first time seeing rage :D

the final presentation thing at the end with all the quotes and figures was great, setlist was pretty much what i expected, amazing crowd and Tom Morello performed amazingly as well. Fantastic day

also, getting the train the Euston was a slight pain

Was fricking awesome!!!! When RATM started playing everyone went wild!!! I was standing close to the stage and everyone pushed a lot but I ain't a p...y so I didn't get squashed but have seen some people having enough after the first song already.

Getting home was easy, just before last song I got out of the main stage and I stand nearer the exit so when it ended I managed to leave the park quickly without any issues. I managed to get to the station and grab 10.30 train and got home just before midnight. If I didn't get the train I would have been screwed and would have to use buses which would take me forever to get back to Epsom.

RATM is really good live I have to say. Sound was also really good and very loud. You couldn't have a better free gig ever imo.

Wow I didn't realise the line-up for the whole did was so good. I'm glad I'm seeing all of those bands on other occasions. Makes up for missing yesterday.

I was with the Mrs so stayed just back of the sound-stage, no barging and no hassle.

My neck is stiff and my voice is hoarse which is a testament to just how incredible Rage were. Even the Mrs who's strictly a trance fan said it was one of the best performances she'd ever seen.

No trouble getting home either, walked the opposite way to everyone else and Manor House tube station was more or less empty! Parked in Alexandra Palace and had a clear run out on the N.Circular to the M40.

Thanks to Rage and the guys who kicked off the whole movement back in November, plus the chap here who got my ticket for an amazing day out :)

Jesus Christ what a day/night!

That was one of the best gigs I've ever been too, impartiality of being a HUGE RATM fan aside, it was brilliant!

There were a few slight mistakes on RATM's behalf; which were covered so it was barely noticable. The two I noticed were during Bullet in the Head the solo from Tom Morello came too soon and it was a bit odd, even Zach went to sing and stopped. Also during Sleep now in the Fire Tom's guitar malfunctioned and he dissapeard to have Tim, Brad and Zach just keeping a beat going with a little freestyling until he came back all fixed up. The sound was also a little low until half way through and then it got noticably louder during Sleep now. Nothing major at all and it was covered extremely professionally to the point where only near excessive fans might notice a difference. :)

The set list did seem a bit shorter than when I saw them in Reading 2008, but the gig itself was so much better. A huge amount of Rage fans there which was really noticable with everyone singing and jumping around like mad. Being thanked and having John and Tracey go up on stage obviously took some time and another song could have been squeezed in.

People mention the police presence but that's the way its always been at Finsbury Park when gigs are on. Plenty of sniffer dogs and a reasonable presence. Lets be honest though, there were ~45k people there, in comparison the number of police was relativley low. I bet there are far more up the road at Highbury every week when the football is on.

Everything was really good natured from what I saw, plenty of people helping the pit if it went down and no malicious attacks.

The travel was insane, we walked to the station past Highbury and some guy had locked the gate "as a joke", idiot tube worker jobs-worth...We almost started walking elsewhere but he opened it up again and we got down to meet the last train heading out of Finsbury. It was PACKED!

After the most ridiculously packed tube ride ever we managed to get down to Putney where we were parked up and drive home. We were very lucky. I had to drive one of my friends who lives in Epsom back as he had missed his last train and another friend near Guilford. I got in at 2:25am in Portsmouth absolutley knackered but buzzing from an awesome gig :D

What an amazing night, loved it! We were fairly near the front and spent the entire time in a mosh pit so I'm feeling it today! Getting out was harder, though the two guys on the roof of the bus were amusing. We had to walk 30 mins to Holloway Road to get a tube but from there it was plain sailing.
A friend of mine got in without a ticket after a load of people broke down a fence at the back :p

Well ive finally woken up after last night!

Was brilliant until Rage finished, then it all started going downhill!

We drove to Newbury Park then got the tube to Finsbury park, but on the way home, we just about managed to get the last train from Finsbury park and got off at Oxford Circus on the Central line, BAM no more trains :(

We then went up onto oxford street and were panicing what to do, and finally worked out we could get a bus all the way out to Gants Hill and walk to Newbury Park.

So got on the bus, all was going fine, until 20 minutes in this drunk guy gets off the bus and kicks the window in :(

So we all had to get off, and wait for the next one, which pulled up about 15 mins later, but was really busy so let everybody but 6 people on :(

So waited for the next one, which took about 45 minutes to come, and went alllll the way out to Gants Hill, then walked to Newbury Park, which was quite a bit further then we thought!

Finally got to my mates car and we're almost home! But then the police start following us, and pull us over, and it turns out my mates MOT ran out at 00:01 this morning!

So finally get to my mums car in braintree, then on the way home, we hit a massive deer.

Finally got home, been asleep since!

EVENTFUL!

London transport after 11pm is terrible for such a large city

I stayed till the end and still managed to get tube from Finsbury Park at 10.30 and get back home in Epsom at midnight :P :P :P

Absolute insane day/night. After finding out a bit about Gallows i was expecting their frontman to be a complete ****, but as it turns out he was actually pretty funny. They impressed me live too, but i always think it's bad to play a cover first off! Mistake there, but they were great live and kept my attention.

Roots were awesome. Man that bass :D

I didnt really see much of Gogol Bordello as i wasn't fussed. It was more important to get beered up and in position for Rage :D

And oh my god when Rage started up it went absolutely insane. I've been to a fair amount of gigs before.. big gigs before, small gigs, punk gigs but jesus that was insane when they started up with Testify. It must have been mad for Zac to actually say something to the crowd, i thought for a second there he nearly looked worried :p I lost my friend within about the first two bars of the song and never found him again! I must have moved about 20ft forward, 20ft to the left and 20ft back again all within the first chorus. Crazy. Loads of people were streaming out of the front after, one guy even said to me something like 'i think a lot of people werent expecting that'. Totally mental. Calmed down a bit for the rest of the set but moshpits were just opening up around me constantly. Crazy!

Such a good gig. We had a great time getting back to west London too. Saw the Tube was going nowhere from FB, so walked randomly south/east to Stoke Newington. Got on a bus to Waterloo ( ) and stayed on that until we saw Chancery Lane. Jumped off and got down for the last central line going west. Phew! :D:D:D

Awesome night!!

I just wanted to say that the Rage gig was excellent. I've wanted to see them for such a long time and they delivered a great set.

I was stood towards the back (out of (my partner's) choice) and not too many people singing along or raising their fists, but enjoying themselves anyhow.

All else was good. Tickets picked up without problems. Drinks weren't comparatively extortionate. Journey there and back was fine.

Personally they should have played Killing In The Name earlier on to get the crowd more worked up, but I loved Bulls on Parade with the slow intro into the song.

It was awesome to be part of that day.
