Mac Pro or Precision T7500

If you don't know what you'll use it for, neither will we so we can't suggest what is more suitable.

Or since you don't really do a lot of editing just use your gamin pc for it and save yorself 1000's

seems like you are just trying to spend money for the sake of it.

If you ask in here we'll say Mac Pro, go and ask in Windows and they'll say get the Windows box.

If you just want to edit photos and a bit of video, and you want something nice, splurge on an i5 27" iMac. Much more 'impressive' than the MP and cheaper to boot.

Seems a bit silly to be buying a Mac Pro when you don't even know what you want it for. Especially if you aren't going to be using Pro Apps which really need the power of a top spec machine.

I've got a Mac Pro, I use it for video editing, but that's also career wise.
They are a lot of money, I certainly wouldn't have paid that much for one just for the sake of it.

sorry but your grammer is appalling if you are going to ask a question make it so we can uderstand it please.

The basic Mac Pro is hardly a pro tool. Its a shadow of its big brothers.

Ive used the most recent 2.66ghz quad and it falls on its arse with HD, especially rendering something like looks. Waste of cash.

If you have always used windows and are not looking for mac specific go for a pc. If looking for specific mac tools slump for a mac.

I have the base Mac Pro, and it is bar far the best computer I have ever owned. Worth every penny of that price tag.

I've got a Precision on my desk and I'd have rather had a Mac Pro but work won't stretch to £2000+

*Shakes angry fist*

However the Precision is good.

You sir are talking out of your arse.

My Mac Pro is a couple of years old now and it handles HD video editing just fine, even before I'd upgraded the RAM above 2gb.

Likewise, there are companies I've worked for which still use G5s to do HD work and they only just struggle with it.

I don't really understand what you mean by it not being a Pro Tool? In the film and television production world it is certainly a pro tool, albeit it's not a purpose built system like most of Autodesks machines, but then its a fraction of the price.

Aww come-on! Walk into any post production house (in glasgow & edinburgh anyway) and you will not see a mac pro in sight. Client side editing in HD is abysmal and a waste of time.

When you say you work in television and film do you mean corporate video?(jk) :p

Even .. You guys with FCP. Load up a 10 min HD sequence in color, apply some filters, maybe even a pretty wee vignette with blur and count down from 20 minutes.

Anyway on a light note Nexus what is it you do? Im current studying for a masters in sound for the moving image at the GSA. Great fun. Also pick up sound recordist/assistant/boom op jobs depending on availability and time. Biggest bit of work i done was with M8media (post).

Peace

I'd like to point out video production isn't the only Pro thing out there.

CAD/CFD/MATLAB and Lightroom/PS here.
