Gulf Oil Spill ( LIVE FEED )

Well look at what we have here:

Caps for sale.

americans are so angry with Obama, what do they want him to do
AFAIK he is the one that allowed new (deep) sea oil drilling by BP

It has been saying Dispersant Ops, is that some kind of chemical they spray into the oil?

Couldn't they just stuff the hole with saturated fat, Americans have loads of that floating around, if they run out just juice a few fat yanks.......

They’re not in any shot from the last two days. :)
Sorry, I meant the caps are sitting on a concrete mat of the same construction as the mats being lowered in matt's picture.

I came across a comparison today that gets a normal person closer to appreciating the massive pressures involved.

My Karcher pressure washer operates up to 120bar or 1750psi. The pressure drop over the BOP (difference between the top of the well and sea) is ~6000psi, over 3 times greater.

footnote: My 6,000 psi figure comes from various posts on theoildrum that claim the well pressure at the BOP fluctuates between 8,000-9,000 psi and the pressure 5,000 feet underwater is 2250psi.

They need to get those flange bolts undone and design a cap which can utilise the bare flange.

At the moment nothing is realy pulling down on the cap to make it seal properly.. am I right in saying? :o

Unless they just mean the pipes they are going to attach lower down the riser

It's not clear at all:

The first planned addition will use the hoses and manifold that were deployed for the “top kill” operation to take oil and gas from the failed Deepwater Horizon blow-out preventer (BOP) through a separate riser to the Q4000 vessel on the surface, in addition to the LMRP cap system. This system is intended to increase the overall efficiency of the containment operation by possibly increasing the amount of oil and gas that can be captured from the well and is currently expected to be available for deployment in mid-June.

they havent sealed it yet I don't think, they are supposed to be going to send 20,000 lb of pressure down the pipe to seal it eventually

simulatorman, im curious what is your insane fascination with this lol. You seem to be on it 24/7 and posting screen shots all the time. Are you paid to do it by someone?

I think he's just concerned that one less X6 can be run per day due to the oil being lost to the sea :D.
