Hi Guys,

I just can't put together a good package for £400, I always go over!

My friends found a package on a competitor's website, and it doesn't look great, so wondered if you peeps had any better ideas?

It needs Win7, a monitor, keyboard/mouse and a base unit.

Any ideas?

Ta!

To be honest, with cheap desktops you are going to struggle to save much money if any at all over pre built systems. I'd personally go with a pre built system instead of building one from scratch in this instance.

The one's I would buy are from a competitor so I can't list them on here but they are a very popular brand if thats any use!

20" Monitor - £90
Windows 7 OEM - £80
Logitech Classic 200 - £10
Logitech Pilot - £10

Sempron 140 - £25
MSI 6150SE AM3 Motherboard - £40
2GB DDR3 - £45
250GB HDD - £30
SATA DVD Writer - £15
Coolermaster Elite 330 - £25
OCZ 400W PSU - £30

It's not very good... at all however.

How about this? The add the rest of your peripherals, it will take you slightly over budget but you will get a alotta bang for your buck. You could always go for one of our barebones systems and add your own components.

The very best I could fit in this budget (£395 with free delivery):

well, you didnt specify which windows 7. With it being an office machine heres a build for win 7 professional. look elsewhere for 2 gigs ddr2 ~£40 (corsair value select), and a sempron 140 ~£25-30. total should be around 405 quid +P&P:

and just in case, heres a build around win 7 home premium for about 400 quid +P&P (this would be a much better build if you dont need 7 pro). again, look elsewhere for the 2 gigs ddr2:
