New Car: 350z

Very nice car, far better than the Civic but I do think you are in for a massive shock running this compared to something like the Civic. It might only have been a £500 cost to change but everything else about this car is going to be massively more expensive. How much is a set of discs and pads all round?

Also everyone seems to be getting very excited about the fact you got a 350Z for 'only' 500 quid without taking a closer look at the deal you got. Assuming average mileage on your Civic EX, the amount they offered you for it was not that bad, perhaps 400ish less than you ought to have got, but not the end of the world.

Unfortunately, though, a 100k 04 plate 350Z is actually worth quite a bit less money than a 45k Civic EX - infact almost £2k less.

Still, it's done now - just be careful with it :)

I am fully aware of the running costs and potential things that can go wrong with it compared to the Civic. I have been looking at them for months before I made the purchase and the prices you suggest cannot be real world prices. I'm sure some guides say that's what they go for but would love to see a similar car go for £7k. Also, if you take a look around ph and autotrader 06 civic ex with 45,000 miles I'm sure you could find plenty going for 8,500 and probably some for less.

I didn't say you could buy a 350Z for £7k, because you cannot. I simply said that the difference in trade values between your car and the car you have purchased is a negative £1500 not a positive £500 :)

Apologies, get what you mean now :).

friddela - Nice motor. Especially with the GT package.

What mods are you planning on doing, because the 350z does not provide much gains even with a remap. Even with intake, plenum and exhaust, you would see a max (including remap) of around 25-30bhp and probably more mpg (negligible on a V6!). I would recommend the JWT popcharger for the bark and roar noise, even though it doesn't provide any gains.

GT4 wheels are SO nice. I think Booner had some on his but sold them for some RAYS.

I had GT4's on the car when I bought it, as it was a pretty much standard GT4.

I put my favourite wheels on there instead. 19" Nismo LMGT4's (rays forged), which looked better in person, when clean.

I do like the GT4 wheels, although I fell in love with the Nismo's and to be honest I think the GT4 wheels can look too similar to the RX8 alloys.

Welcome to the club :)

Seats seem in good condition for 100k. Nissan leather's rubbish. Did she hover over em'?

GT pack comes with RAYS too, where they gone!?

Yeah, I know the gains won't be huge from just the simple mods and a remap. I do think it will be the easiest way to get a bit better performance as well as full throttle. I average at 28mpg at the moment so am not expecting any more from a remap. Having said that I'm not going to rush in to getting the mods as I'm enjoying the car just the way it is at the moment.

I am contemplating getting new alloys first, see how I feel in a couple of months. I've bought a second hand Headunit from someone on the owners forum which is a double din all-in-one jobby, see how I get on with that, installing seems fairly simple. I was a bit peeved that I needed to buy a bluetooth adaptor to get the fitted bluetooth to work, which costs £100 :(.

She must have weighed 5 stone and always went out in spandex! Is in great condition for the amount of miles.

Regarding the rays, I haven't got a clue if I'm honest. Like I said above, I'm looking to upgrade them. I'm going to look in to whether they came standard on all GT's, I can't see why she would change them for the standards.

They do come on all GTs. Someone has a set for sale on the owners forum WITH tyres for £400. VERY goof price - snap em up.

Installing a stereo will make or break you......make sure your neighbours aren't around or are comfortable with hearing you swearing every other word!

lol, so I've heard, but the guy who sold it me has done all of the soldering. I'm not sure whether I require the steering wheel controls enough to slice in to the cable!

Lovely Car :)

Congrats to you on getting that car at your age.

Thank You :).

I'd just buy something like this for the stalk controls rather than stat chopping bits up

Yeah it comes with all the adaptors but to keep the steering wheel controls you need to slice in to it, which could prevent me from putting the standard bose back in when I come to sell.

That's how I've been reading it anyway, I'm sure Booner! or Albo will correct me.

Hey Booner, any stats on the real world running costs of these things? I get a bit confused sometimes because on the one hand I've heard people say they're a great buy, less expensive than other marques to run, but on the other hand I hear (read) the same a few months later where it's stated they're expensive to run ! :o

Also, with the individual mods you do, i.e. replacing the wheels, changing the exhaust, basically every little bit - do you declare it with insurance I assume? How much more did it cost each time you added another mod?
