Just completed re-installing Windows 7 on my new Laptop which got me thinking… Only as I’ve only recently installed Windows 7 to my desktop in the last few months as well..
I’ve now changed over to Windows 7 from Windows XP and I’ve just got a really decent spec laptop and you know, the first things I installed made me realise… Microsoft provided a decent O/S with Windows XP and now Windows 7 64bit, lets not mention Vista.. lol but there are still those little apps you install that just make your life much easier..
For me, soon as I install a new fresh install of an O/S I always tend to install without fail –
Firefox
Coolviews firefox add on
Image resizer firefox add on
AVG – Free
Spyware Blaster
CDBurnerXP
Gimp for Windows
WinRAR
Last.fm client
Steam client
RocketDock
Rainmeter
CPU Z
GPU Z
Rivatuner D3D Overrider
VLC Media Player
Total Media Home Theatre
Once these are installed and configured then I can start to use my computers again…. Strange, that most of the stuff I install Microsoft provide, just these apps add that extra bit that the Microsoft versions lack.
I mean, Firefox. I could us IE 8 but I prefer Firefox, take WinRAR, windows has built in unzipping but doesn’t handle RAR files… Gimp for Windows, much better then MS paint, amazing how a few add on apps can really make the world of difference…
