New Car; I Broke All The Rules

Any interior shots? Sounds like you've bought a decent example from description.
I was never a fan of the Boxster originally, going out in a few changed my mind. (Only been 2.7 versions though :( )
Fun car, sounds great with the roof down. :)

Can you still get the light conversions that change it from fried egg style to the newer oval style lights?

If you mean them plastic covers that you can get for 996's they look terrible, they never fit flush.

Nooo, Ive seen a full conversion where there is a new light unit and bonet maybe.

I think I've seen it for 996 --> 997.

Edit: like so

Bit more work than I thought, bonnet wings and bumper

Edit Part 2: Just found the thread that goes with that image and it was a lot of work, thousands.

That comes to a few grand to do properly, changing the orange lenses to clear is a cheaper way of face lifting.

Yeh in general I think highly modified cars don't sell well. I think its because no one is quite sure the standard to what it was done.

I think it’s more the general image of “moders” being youths that burn it around Mc’d car park. It might be wrong in some cases but the world is full of generalisation and discrimination.

Nice!

Reminds me of the first car I drove....on the Playstation 1, Porsche Boxster Challenge =]

It would have been, it is still a good car for the £9775 that the OP paid :p

Yep, it would have been a brilliant deal for £8k. I had to find another £1775 to go on top, still not a bad deal! I was reassured when on the day I bought it a fellow OcUKer post a thread say he just picked up a 2.7 for £10k because he couldn't find a good S within budget. Nice car in either 3.2 or 2.7 though. :D

heh, yeah, that was me, although I actually paid £9k - I just couldn't find a good example of an S for £10k.

Car looks great, and sounds like just the sort of person you want to buy from (which was one of my criteria too!). Hope you enjoy it - mines been getting quite a lot of use and I absolutely love it. Got a few days in the Lakes with the Mrs this week so lots of twisties to play in, and plenty of luggage room to keep her happy!

Thanks, very nice car also.

Since you offered.

Where did you get the centre caps from, they look nice?
Where did you pick up your lights from?
Has your S got a non S exhaust or has your Non S got an S badge on? Or is it a bad picture?

Already found Boxa.net, got a buying guide from there and some good information. I also got a mechanic friend to check it out for me before I made the first offer.

Hiya

In answer to your questions, the lights, and alloy centre caps all came fitted to the car when I bought it. It has an 'S' badge , but a normal exhaust ( 2.5 - 1998 Boxster ) . Still sounds quite fruity , have been toying with getting a sports exhaust for it - anyone have any ideas about how much they cost ?

Looks like a great example. Good price too. I know someone who bought a yellow one for around 10k but didn't have many extras and mileage was quite high too. Don't know if yellow is a more rare / desirable colour? I certainly don't think so.

I would have gone for the CL500 myself though :p
