Hi guys,

I'm waiting for my daily driver which should be here in the next couple of months, I have the opportunity to purchase either an Impreza Turbo (UK Model) or a MR2 Turbo for stock but I'd run over the summer until my TT appears.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience of these and out of the two which would you purchase?

I could buy both, but I think that's just being greedy! And I'm not confident in stocking these - and wouldn't want to make a loss of both cars!

I've driven Imprezas before and know what they're all about, but I'm swaying more towards the MR2 Tubby because it's Targa top and I've never had one before!

What do you think?

Thanks

Drove my mates MR2 a couple of times when he had it. Quite fun to drive, not overly quick and can be quite hairy when the back end goes out.

Engine is quite hard to work on but they are decent engines with a few mods make nice power.

I'm pretty sure there reliable as well.

Cant help you with the Impreza not a fan of Scoobies at all.

As you are buying this as a trader with a view to adding it to your stock and generating a profit as a commercial enterprise, before we offer you consultancy services, where would you like the invoice sent?

Had an MR2 turbo and thought it was a boring, boring car.

Ok as a cruiser but it falls on its face when it comes to handling or feel.

0-60 in about 5.5 seconds and very prone to lift off oversteer does not make for a boring car. Yours must've been broken ;)

Which will you make the most on/lose the least on come resale? Winner of that question is what I'd get if in your situation :)

agreed. mine were a right handful and you often had to be very ginger getting on or off the throttle. it took some real commitment to drive quickly. loved it

scooby = 4wd = yawnfest

Was that a Turbo? i had an older rev2 turbo with basic mods and ran a 13.4 quarter, thats hardly slow....

The mr2 is hairy around the bends, most of the suspension issues were resolved in the Rev3+ models (1994 onwards). Great car though, consider getting another one day...just a shame they are getting so old now.

I've driven an Impreza Turbo 2000 and it depends on you're idea of fun, to me the more grip the more fun I can have, my S14A was the opposite end of the scale for fun, I couldnt even put my foot down in a straight line in damp weather without it snaking all over the place so for me it would be the Impreza but I know a guy that had an MR2 turbo with breathing mods and the boost cranked up a bit and he loved it and never had any problems with it

Hourses for courses
