Computer gamers 'have reactions of pilots but bodies of chain smokers'

The article was about pro-gamers so everything seems pretty logical to me :)
If you are going to sit inside and play games all day then you aren't taxing your body physically so not sure what they were expecting to see with this study.

I sort of agree with the article. I sit on the pc for over 10 hours a day gaming etc for the past 7 years, and whilst I look fit, I am shockingly unfit.

I question the voracity of those claims, I know that sitting in front of a computer for days on end isn't the most healthy thing, but I don't see how it could have the same effect as 30 - 40 years of smoking on lung function.

What I gather has happened here is that they have picked up 5 or 10 and compared that to a sample size of hundreds of thousands. They probably got a bad bunch.

Makes me laugh stuff like this, so I give up gaming and start watching TV with the time that I would usually game, that would make me some how more healthy!?

Its all down to the person, I get plenty of excercise as I know I need to, if you dont get any excercise because you game and/or watch to much TV then thats the individuals problem

No then you'd be fat, unfit and have slow reactions ;p

True but my point is that gaming over watching TV is overlooked

But, exercise is dull compared to BF:BC2 :(

This is true, very true indeed but you dont have to go gym etc you can just walk to the shops instead of going to the works canteen for example, thats a mile round trip 5 days a week for me

Imagine how many man hours and the financial cost to uncover this amazing discovery?!

I mean who would have thought sitting in front of a pc 8h a day will make you less healthy than a trained athlete?

Im flabbergasted!
