Will you be swaping the Desire for an iPhone4?

I was considering using the car analogy in this debate but there's little point going into it further.

Google will have to up the marketing to convert the iPhone superfans to Android, an easy task if and when people realise what it is capable of, and that it isn't really "complicated" at all.

Apple are going to have to improve the software a bit more than adding little bits and bobs to it like they have in this instance, if they dont, then there will be no reason to have an iPhone for me at least.

It has been a bit hit and miss up to now, but the Android 2.2 OS makes vast leaps forward in the way it works, much unlike iPhoneOS4.

Coupled with the fact you can probably get the phones quite a bit cheaper too.

I see you've linked Slidescreen there, it's a good example yes, I'd actually not heard of it, looks interesting. I'll be having a read about it later on :p

But... but havn't you guys been paying attention?

"This is so much more than just another product."
"FaceTime is going to change the way we communicate forever."
"I can't believe this is real. That this is actually happening."
"This is going to change everything... all over again."
:eek::p

you forgot:
iphone 4. this changes everything. Again.

lol - yes Steve whatever you say.

this is the worst of the apple bs though:
MULTITASKING DONE THE RIGHT WAY
This smarter approach to multitasking is available only on iPhone.

huh? what? no seriously apple hang on a minute??!?!?
once again proving that apple have their heads in the clouds.

i look forward to the day that andriod seriously kicks their ass - and its gaining quickly...steve jobs face is gonna be priceless or should i say 'amazing'

What andriod need to be doing is getting decent adverts on the TV. Which admittidly is pretty hard as there is different types of the software, so hard to show it off like they do with the iphone.

I really can't wait to see the new iPhone advert, the multitasking bit will have me in stiches. :p

I watched the keynote and must admit the device looks much more intuitive than a Desire... I don't own one but if I did (though have used one), I would swap :)

Google is doing great with Android, nothing like abit of competition... but from my point of view, i don't have time for tweaking and fiddling, just want a good out of the tin mobile internet device and home office, iPhone, and the new one for sure are amazing at it.

Apple didn't just overtake Microsoft in value for nothing, good on you Steve!

wait...you WATCHED it look more intuative than a desire...which wasnt customised to ur taste/useage and u dont own a desire

OHHH EMMM GEEEE!!!

on a side note i watched all of the google i/o on android key note =) because they actually talk about real new stuff...not magical new FORM FACTORSZ and revolutionary VIDEO CALLINGZ....on wifi only....

Had the desire two days... rubbish compared to my n95 for picking up 3g/3.5g (I know iphone sucks at this too). BUT the new iphone is meant to have the case as an antenna so could be much better.

Secondly games. The iphone seems to have loads of games with really good graphics! Where are the ones on android? I was on the most rated (free games but still) and they were all multiple choice rubbish. Where are the 3d slash em ups and racing games (demos are fine lol)? :(

So yeah mixed views from my limited experience so far.

Great looks, 720p video camera, better games, better battery life and *possibly* much better antenna might see me sell up and jump ship when it is released! Gives the Desire a few weeks to change my mind..

i really dont get the games thing on smartphones...its a tinny screen with meh games...if u rate smartphones on that ur kinda missing the point...

and i get fine G/3G/H (90% H) did u check ur carriers coverage? (t-mobile/oxfordshire)

also my battery lasts a day of heavy usage...cant ask more of a smartphone atm.

I would love it if someone gave me a straight swap from any Android phone to the Iphone 4. I could turn around and sell it back for the original phone and make a profit...

To be fair I just want a straight swap of my Desire for a 3GS. I'll then palm off the 3GS on the missus (she has a 3G) and get the iPhone 4 for myself at the end of the month.

:)

Fair enuff... I watched most of it as being a iphone user I like to see what apple bring to the table.

I'd watch a Android 3 keynote with great interest also :D

The Android 2.2 was a barely watchable 45 minutes. That is about my limit of interest. :p

Why would I check the carriers coverage? I am on o2 have been forever, had the n95 for many years and my point stands. The desire is far far worse and I really notice it as I use it for tethering to my laptop. N95 was a champ at this.

Well the iphone currently lasts about as long as the desire so 40% more on the iphone4 would be nice obviously :p I can always ask for more tbh especially if using a 720p camcorder ect.

Lastly I don't really care if I am missing the point of want you deem to be a smartphone. For me its being able to combine many gadgets into one!

I thought this thread was about changing from the desire to iphone4 and I listed more than games as a reason for change...

EDIT: and the tiny screen comment is just silly really. Many people do lots of non 'smartphone' things on a tiny screen like Movies/TV.

If you are swapping a Desire for an iPhone, you've probably got the Desire for the wrong reason to begin with, or can't use it properly :(

Seeing that you can't have had it more than one or two months to begin with.

Why would they not be able to use it properly? or was that an attempt at an insult?

This is what Apple are great at, marketing. To the people in the know it will be a joke of what they are stating, but majority of consumers will not understand everything, so take the adverts literally!! :(

The Evo has been out about 5days now and I have not seen one piece of marketing for it :( The advert was posted on Engaget and it was awful.
