HTC Desire Media Volume

I got my Desire at the weekend and am loving everything apart from the media experience. The volume seems to be really low when listening to music which is a big problem for me. I have tried the supplied earphones and the ones I was using with my N95 and they are both pathetically low.

I have searched the internets and found quite a few people with similar problems but no suggestions of a fix. Some have suggested that it is a problem with T Mobile versions of the handset but then people on other networks are having the problem too.

So, has anybody on here managed to sort it out?

I noticed the low media/volume output that comes from the Desire. It appears it affects most HTC Desire handsets, and ive looked through hundreds of web pages, and have yet to find a way of boosting it. You could get a iphone 4, or simply shoot yourself  If you find a way, or know a HTC goon that can address this, let the world know !

the t-mobile 1.21.110.4 update (started rolling out yesterday apparently) increases the volume according to a couple of people on xda-dev.

its the same update unbranded desire's got under 1.21.405.2

I've never experienced low media volume both pre and post rooting. Custom ROMS have the audio mod but that's mainly to improve audio clarity. Media has always been high and clear. I watch my weekly youtube shows for example all perfectly audible as is satnav voice directions.

Thanks for all of the replies. I have been speaking to T-Mobile about it but they don't recognise the problem.

Does anybody know how to force the T-Mobile update? I have checked for newer versions using the handset but it says nothing is available.

I feel the need to make myself clear on this point. My previous phone , nokia 5800 (i know im sorry, please forgive me!) had a far greater volume output , and it is this i base my findings on the Desire output, both external and headphone. Damn shame HTC didnt take the external stereo speakers from that handset (way superior speakers) and forget about the quite nasty single effort they burdened the Desire.

I also need to point out, at no point do i consdier any nokia phone in the same league as the HTC Desire, i just like to moan a bit (bit like the wife---- he ducks !)

Well the genesis of your problems is right there, the 5800 had an absolute beast of a speaker, and the music player was top notch. I'm coming from a Samsung omnia hd. By comparison my desires loudspeaker and audio volume/clarity is subpar. Also on tmob by the way. Gonna try the update now and see what's what.

My unbranded sim free desire also suffers from this very low volume output through the headphones :(

I remember there being talk once about this problem with one the apple ipods or nano players..
And people were saying that apple set the volume output very low as not to be able to damage your hearing..

No problem with my volume at all, yep the speaker is pap but never had and volume probems and definitly cant have it on full volume with head phones on.
