Hey guys

Been using a makeshift computer with my mac/monitor via VGA. All was good for me, but since donating it to the mother I seem to have hit a problem.

Basically I bought a cheap-ass 15" tft monitor for £11.05, now when connecting it to the computer it shows for a second then goes black, when something changes like windows starts it again flashes and goes off. If I turn the monitor off and on it again quickly shows and goes off.

I thought it might be the VGA cable, so used the one I had and the same happened.

I DID manage to quickly see by navigating blind to the Nvidia panel and I did see the computer has recongised the screen but like I said it fails to stay on?

What gives? The old cable did have a pin missing, mine did not but neither work.

Could it be some settings in the NVIDIA thats preventing the monitor displaying or what?

Not up on the different cables and/or technics for defaulting the display settings on the OS any help will be appreciated!

Can you check if the monitor actually works or not? £10... i assume it was used?

Yea I'm gonna use my sister's laptop to double check it, but guy said it works and offered to show me while at his so.....

I wondered if it was something like resoultion or something else preventing it from displaying because when it was connected to my monitor it was at 1920x1200?

Slightly confused...

Tried it with another computer to no avail, its defiantly had it! :( Atleast the guy has been fair and is refunding me and I'm to recycle it.

Now I need a cheap monitor ASAP!

CRT screens are given away free from many places, including free cycle and the likes.

TFT screens - pretty sure you can get them new for £50 these days.
