Hi,
For quite a while i've been having two problems with my Powercolor PCS 4670 (512MB) card and wondered if anyone could shed so light on my problems (as they are too generic to use my Google skills)
My card is this exact one http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_4670/3.html
This first problem (and this has been happening for months) is that every now and again my screen will freeze for about 10 seconds....my monitor will go off and blink at me like ive unpluged the DVI cable and then Windows will come back on with a message saying the 'AMD display driver has stopped responding and has been rebooted' (or something similar)
Now this normally doesn't bother me too much as everything is fine after but when im using Google SketchUp after this error it always white-screens the program and I lose what im working on (and thus can be rather annoying)
Naturally you'd assume it was due to overheating but my card idles at 35 degrees and never goes over 65 degrees when im using FurMark. Speaking of FurMark I can run that program for ages without it once falling over.
The only thing that leads me to thinking it might be overheating is that during the hot weather it happened three times in less than two hours, which is a lot more than the once every few days or so rate at which it normally happens.
However it happened today and it's been raining all day and not that hot, so im slightly confused as to what this means...
The second one is ever stranger. Its only happened three times so far (in about 4 - 5 months) but when im on windows the screen will turn off and the monitor will blink at me, again, like i've unpluged the DVI cable. However this doesnt correct itself and the monitor stays off permantly.
However when I open the side of my case the fan on the heatsink for the card has completely stopped working, but if I push the reset button Windows loads again, the fan spins up, and all things are good?
So does this mean that my card is slowly on the way to the great silicon heaven in the sky?
(Im running 32bit Windows 7 with Cat 10.5 and all updated drivers etc etc)
Any help would be great!
