Im always sceptical over phone calls that offer you awsome deals that theres a catchline it in.

I got recomended through a friend to phones4u, and just finished a lengthy 1 hour phonecall to which I decided to go for it.

They are buying out my existing contract, costing a total of £180, giving me 800 free calls, free texts, free internet, free emails and a free samsung monte on orange, 24 month £35 contract.

Im currently with T-mobile, ahve been for years and have stuck with them due to the loyalty bonus they give to me, although it doesnt seem that good when I see other deals floatign about.

I've always wanted an iphone, wish I got one last time round.. Looking at the price comparison of the monte and the iphone puts me off a little that im getting a worse off phone than what I really wanted, although to get the iphone I would have to wait till my contract runs out.

Is this a good phone, or have I got something that I wouldnt really like considering I enjoy the Iphone. I like the Iphones browsing compatability, opening fingers to zoom in ect, due to having large fingers, is it going to be difficult to text without hitting other keys, and browing online selecting links ect.

Also been intrested in the Nexus one

In a nutshell no you havent...should have stuck out for the iphone if thats what you wanted.

Saying that the iphone is going to be expensuive on a contract...should have asked for the HTC Desire or Nexus 1 as they are much better phones than the iphone.

wait, so you signed up for a TWO YEAR contract on £35 a month for a shoddy samsung that doesn't even run android... and you VOLUNTEERED for this?

you do realise that for the same amount per month you could have got ANY phone on the market right? including the up&coming iPhone 4G?

you're a nutter.

You've been shafted.

The Samsung Monte is a very bad phone, the iPhone and Nexus One are both very good phones.

Two years of a rubbish phone for £35 a month. lol.

Send it back and get a Nexus One, unless you can find one reason to get an iPhone instead (ie. you've tried both and prefer the iPhone because you find the Nexus too difficult and fiddly to use, like some people have suggested on here, but most of them probably aren't tech savvy) :p

At the very least wait until the iPhone 4. Which you'll be able to get in two weeks if you badly want an iPhone.

Madness. Phones4U have done you up like a kipper. I hope you can return it without any problems.

Im tempted to just wait for the rlease og the 4gs and review it against the htc evo.. sounds like a better deal.

I like the sound of the new iphone, but the htc evo now sounds also tempting. cancelled my deal with phones4u.. waiting for a callback to confirm it, hopefully they havnt sent it out yet and they call me back tonight

The HTC EVO wont be coming out here...its an Android phone for the american market only...unless they put a GSM radio in then get one but they havent and i dont think they plan to.

I hate choosing new phones! So many options, why does apple hold the leading market? Why isnt there something that blasts it to pieces, rather than being just that little bit on par or under?

Well it all depends on what you want from a phone...if you want a closed OS like the iphone where it just works then go for that...if you want to customise your homescreen and not be limited to what a company says you can and cant do on a phone then anyone but apple.

Before you ask whether or not an iPhone or any other phone is right for you, you need to first tell us your needs. Do you want/need a smartphone? Will you be viewing media? What kind of apps will you be using? Need a good music player or not etc etc...

As other people have said though, 35 a month is way too much for the Monte, although maybe they're offering you that cause there spending £180 buying you out of your contract. An iPhone at that price would prob cost an extra £190 on top btw.

Just by googling the phone it's showing me shopping results for sim-free £145:( If you want the iphone then get the iphone.

You dont seem to be any kind of phone enthusiast, so you are probably best off with an iPhone.

Worth exploring the Desire and Nexus One though incase you want something a bit better but different.

Thanks to all who replied and saved me from this deal!

your right, im not. used to be but years ago i stopped using my phone for anything other than phones, text and internet browsing. i quite like the htc text interface where it shows up like a chat log, and wouldnt mind getting into using a smartphone for all their worth. i currently own a nokia 5800 xpress which i hate with a passion.

Well, go and have a read about the HTC Desire, better yet, go and play with one.

I think you would be better off with that than the Nexus purely due to SenseUI.
