Is it not possible to install your own wallpaper on an iphone

Well you can if you want but thats about all the customisation you will get unless you illegally hack ie jailbreak your phone but we arent allowed to discuss that here lol.

Wow you can have wallpaper on iPhone 4? This + video calling = amazing, Apple are really pushing boundries.

They really don't need to in all fairness?

...and they have/are in a way. That's why you find everyone else copying their gui / design and claiming to be the "iphone beater" etc... :p

Dont forget multi tasking done properly too;):p

Yeh right as if all the other smartphones out there now and in the past havent been able to multi task properly...Jobs is such an utter muppet.

What? iPhone beater means a phone that is overall better than the iPhone. The only reason it's classified as the top smartphone at the moment is because it's the most common one, mainly due to good marketing.

For example, the HTC Sense UI doesn't bear any resemblance to the iPhone software.

Can you choose to remove all the icons apart from the bottom four ??

no, those icons are the only way that you can do... anything with the phone. every time you install a new application it dumps a new icon to the screen.

the iPhone UI is... Rudimentary.

only if you void your warranty and jailbreak your phone, which Apple would like you to think is a warcrime against humanity, but in reality is a contravention of the EULA.

You can get some half decent home screens on iPhone if you Jailbreak.

Take a look at the theme section at www.modmyi.com if you want to see some.

Problem with this is tho it takes a big hit to battery.

I predict next years iPhone will bring Widgets and Apple will say how awesome they are for having them

To be fair rooting an Android phone voids your warranty too.... although modifying an Android rom is ok as its open source.... modifying senseui however is not.

Its all getting a bit grey really as its difficult to tell what is propriatory software on an android phone and whats not....... surely if it was all open source the rooting method would be the same for all android phones? If its not why does talking about android rooting not get banned from the forums like jailbreaking?
