Feel like I made a mistake, what would you do?

Last week I switched from a high end gaming rig to an apple iMac

I thought this would be a good decision, but after a week I really can't get used to the mac, there are lots of things I just don't like about it compared to windows.

I know a lot of mac users will tell me that its better than windows etc etc.. but I just feel more comfortable and I wish I could go back to before I sold and purchased.

The Mac cost me £1,500 inc VAT, unfortunately Apple doesn't accept returns on this (probably because it was a custom build)

What would be the best thing to do in this situation getting rid of the Mac so I can afford to purchase a new PC? this isn't something I will be doing right now as i would need to save up for a new rig (maybe a few months down the line) my only problem would be selling the mac, and how much I would get for it... would eBay be the best bet?

Thanks :o :(

Install windows on your Mac then ?

Apple Macs are a hardware as well as a software brand.

Me, i couldnt do without windows totally so dual boot. Best of both worlds.

Install windows on it as well using bootcamp, but stick at OS X as well as apparently the transition does take abit of getting used to.

Sell it... even if you take a hit on the price you would be able to afford a pretty decent PC... you don't need to spend a grand even to max out any game out atm.

Sell it? What sort of windows fanboy advice is that?

Don't sell it. Humans don't like change by design. Just stick with it. Anythings hard and confusing the first time. Just stick with it and learn the OS and you'll begin to love it!

I know i did and i have no use for a windows PC anymore. I was a epic windows fanboy before i got a macintosh and always thought macs were rubbish. I have been using macs for over 4 years and it's one of the best things i've done technology wise ever. It's opened my eyes up to many different things and has given me hobbies that i never thought about before.

As i have said before, stick with it, learn the OS, learn it with a clear head and don't, whatever you do, use it like a windows computer. Even though the shortcuts are the same, it doesn't mean it works the same.

The first rule of 'switching' to Mac should be to seek out enough real world experience with OS X to decide whether you like it before parting with a lot of money. This seems to come up a lot.

Just sell it. The sooner you do the more money you will get back for it. You could try putting it on ebay or try the members market here.

I think a week is long enough to get used to it. It's amazingly easy really, it's just a computer at the end of the day. If you don't like it by now it's clearly not for you.

No way...

How could you possibly learn the OS and all the little nuances in a week...what a load of tosh.

I'm 4 years on and i'm still learning things.

Just out of interest, how long did it take you to learn windows? A week? Thought not...It's not windows, you can't just switch over to it and think everything will be all hunky dory, it's a totally different beast entirely.

What is there to learn? Obviously you won't know everything but you get the basics in like a day.

A week is a bit short after dropping that kind of cash but if he's going to sell it anyway he may as well do it before they update the line and shave a chunk off his selling price.

It's up to him but i think it's a very foolish thing to do if he went that route.

At the very most put windows on it.

I wouldnt have thought that would make any difference, afaik any online purchase qualifies for DSR, if youve left it too long then fair enought but if you contacted apple within the first week they shouldnt have a leg to stand on?? Someone else will know better but thats my understanding.

Futhermore what were your reasons behind the change? ive had similar thoughts in the past but havent had the balls to do it lol

Tbh I was the same as Logsi with regards to being a windows user. If I was the OP I would get it more than a week, which just isn't enough to judge and adapt to an OS...having said that.

Having tired of Windows being a bloated pos from Vista onwards, I jumped onto the MacBook bangwagon in 2009. It was probably the best move I ever made and I had adjusted to OSX in just under a week.

Now I use my uMacbook more than my monster Win7 PC and intend on getting an iMac at some point...just not now :)

Yeah I agree with most above, took me bout a month to get fully comfortable with OS X, and now I love it to bits.

After saying that, I still think Windows 7 is very good as well, but the great thing bout a Mac is you can have both legally, with a PC you are restricted to Windows (or Linux if that rubbish floats your boat).

So if you don't plan on playing games big time, then chuck W7 on your Mac like I have and you are sorted!

What's more, if you have a 27" iMac you won't find a better screen out there than that beauty!
