Im confused, Ive already bought the motherboard for my i3 build but i found the AMD cpu cheaper and its also quad core, should i just stick with my i3 build or should i return my motherboard and make it an AMD build?

Just the motherboard. One of the main reasons im considering it is because its cheaper, but IDK if i should go through the hassle of returning the motherboard.

send it back then, the i3 is over-priced in my opinion

So just the Motherboard and CPU i need to change right, everything else will be compatible?

But i only have the motherboard ATM, My budget was around £550. Will be used mostly for gaming and i will most likely be overclocking.

That build with the i3 was stretching £550, i need help on what motherboard to pick for the AMD build though.

Have a look in the AMD AM3 800 chipset section on overclocks site they are all good boards with features like usb 3.0, take your pick.

i would go for AMD cos it cheaper plus u can upgrade to x6 with keep mobo,etc... write it down the price u find onlines store to see how much between i3 amd x4 then toss yer 10p to choose head or tail to buy which one..

If gaming I would go for the i3 and OC it on air to about 4ghz if possible. The lack of L3 cache on the 630 is mean to hurt it.

1156 motherboard will take a 860 as a future upgrade. tbh I don't know a whole lot about intel setups.

Sometimes you can unlock the L3 cache on early AthlonIIs. As always its a bit hit and miss; IIRC this has becoming harder with newer batches.

If you have already got the mobo stick with the i3.. It's not worth messing about for £30..
