Valve has a surprise for us..

HL2 is old, boring and dead, and I'm getting a touch peeved at having to pay for content I have to get the new bit of it, or get utterly utterly screwed on the single item price.

I have such little interest in Ep 3 now, HL3, a new game, new engine and some new ideas would be interesting, a new CS would be great, Portal was good but I'm not killing myself waiting for a second 1 hour long game(maybe 2) of puzzles that only felt new because we hadn't seen them for so long, but were really incredibly old and basic. THe novelty of an updated incredibly old style of puzzle game won't be there this time.

Oh all soo true.

I think valve are trying to tell us that the surprise is Portal releated. :(

hehe

Hopefully the surprise isn't a delay :p

No it's not... That wouldn't be a suprise ;)

I'm surprised that Blizzard didn't pick up IceFrog first. Can't wait for a new kind of DotA but seeing as Valve focuses on FPSs I'm wondering what's going to happen.

DotA FPS!!

Genius :p

I was going to say that it would be an announcement that Valve and Steam will be supporting the CoD Black Ops servers as they did with MW2, but that doesn't seem the case :(

I am hopeful for EP3... just finished the OB on 360.. having already played it through 3 times on PC.. and forgot exactly how much of a leap in gaming they are..

What if... Valve had purchased the team behind Black Mesa Source.. and helped them with development.. and that it was ready for release.

I'll wet myself.

Twice.

now is it me or what but duno why people think its portal 2 related as

1. It was announced a few weeks ago

2. the event that was cancelled was portal 2 related to be replaced by what ever this surprise is.

well at lease to my understanding

VALVE ANNOUNCES MAKING GAMES IS HARD

June 9, 2010 -- Aperture Science, doing business as Aperture Laboratories LLC, in partnership with Valve today announced the successful completion of an ethics-review-panel-supervised release date restructuring process. Portal 2, the sequel to the ground-breaking title that earned over 30 Game of the Year awards despite missing its original ship date, is now targeted for a 2011 release.

Representatives from both companies acknowledged that public safety concerns factored into the decision. They went on to say that even though Portal 2 will arrive slightly later than planned, all life on earth won't instantaneously stop as every molecule in your body explodes at the speed of light, which is what would happen should a rip ever appear in the fabric of Valve Time.

"Also, the game will be even better," they added, missing an historic opportunity to create the first product delay press release to mention that a product is being delayed to make it worse.
