"What is it about the Construction Industry that appeals to you and why? What has motivated you to make this career choice and be involved in the industry? "

What sort of things are employers wanting to hear with regards to this kind of question for a Quantity Surveyor Trainee?

At the moment, I have got:

- Interested from a young age
- Sense of achievement once a project is completed and knowledge that you have affected many people in a variety of industries.

What else?

"It is a fast moving, dynamic and constantly evolving industry which will always ensure that I am tested both intellectually and physically".

Maybe?

I don't like paying tax and I feel that this is the best industry in which to be paid in cash with the least amount of fuss.

'affected' sounds almost negative. How about helped, assisted, enabled, supported, worked with, collaborated with - etc etc...

Also, how about the satisfaction of getting an detailed overview of large interesting projects?

Ahleckz's answer talks the talk but sounds very generic and not connected to construction (which for the most part sticks to very tried-and-tested practices as it requires a lot of safety incorporated so that we don't get crushed people)...

Ok, yeah I see what you mean - I will have to change that a bit.

Thanks :)

" wanna be a ****in' builder when I grow up ... eh, Mum
And build ****in' houses everywhere, millions of the ****s
A bricky or a chippy, eh Mum, I don't give a ****
I just wanna be a ****in' builder when I grow up "

But there are always new techniques coming out and what not.
You could incorporate them both and say something "Whilst tried and tested techniques are fine to continue using I feel that we should always strive to find new solutions for issues which are better suited for today's changing world. It is for this reason that I constantly read about new practices, techniques and technology that are in used in both the building industry but also in wider engineer circles".

Change is good!
All week I've meant to find a job, but instead I think I'll just help other people find themselves one.
