Sorry to hear that, hope you can get it back.

Going buy a few recent threads you'll probably find it for sale at a local pawn shop for £50 by next week. ;)

Gutted. Check Brixton market or Gumtree, that's where they usually end up.

Brick lane too. My mate went down 2 days after his bike was nicked, found it on a brick lane stall and just bought it back for £50.

I meant Brick Lane, not Brixton. Obviously just had a brain fart.

Figured as much, but with my knowledge of London being about the same as that of Tashkent I wasn't sure :p

I'd be taking that back, personally.

Sorry to hear that OP. I saw a guy hacksaw through a chained mountain bike (nice looking) on St Andrews Sq in Edinburgh, about 4pm in the city centre with hundreds of people around traffic etc.

Folk just walked passed looking at him and standing at the pedestrial crossing! I just made out like it was my bike shouted and chased him off and made sure he was running before I stopped. Had to leave it after that. Couldn't believe the people just letting him do it.

Depends really doesn't it.

Happened to my folks in spain the house got turned over, the laptop turned up in Torre Del Mar market a few weeks later. Got that back right enough.

Fair enough. It's just a lot of people take the view that they would easily get it back when the reality is the stall owner would simply say it wasn't yours and they bought it from such and such a person. I guess if you play it right you would have a chance.

Ive put my postcode all over my bike with them pens that only show up under ultraviolet light. Even written it inside the seat tube :D. Would be pretty easy to prove its mine in this situation.

Or just play liked the seriously ****ed off bloke who knows its his stuff is on his stall. OR if you have it marked or tagged with UV pen etc, get the police. That way hopefully he gets done for handling.

The laptop was old, superficially damaged and easy to ID. There was more taken but that was the only thing there that I could see. He wanted 50 euro/ I can speak Spannish, and told him if I found out or eventially thought it was him that ransacked my little brother and sisters room and the house I would be down to burn his stall every fortnight. (It's a bit different when its family, and I also disturbed the guys and couldn't catch them much to my distress.)

Over heard by quite a few people around. In probably crap spannish due to the anger, but the message was put across.

He didn't have much to say. Oh, and the laptop came with me obviously.

Gits :(, hope you get it back at some point.

Had a quick read of your link, they went through a gold rated lock? They must have had some powerful and noisey tools for that, shame no one noticed.

I think its' more likely that no-one cared. No-one I know of would risk being stabbed to save someone else's bike, let alone their own :(

I had a cheapo bike nicked a few years ago, saw it a couple of weeks later when in my g/f's car, got her to drive after him, pulled over, hopped out and caught him outside his house.

Seemed high as a kite, claimed to have bought it the other day - blatantly hadnt, but I hadnt got it security etched or anything so just ended up paying £20 to get it back.
