The black V class were to bring them into line with the rest of the current product range. There was also a hardware change in processing speed, although those dates do not correspond iirc.
The C class (small black units) are a new hardware class, that shares the old chassis from the S class, and were coloured black to make them look a bit neater. I think the S class is still made in silver, and is possibly the only Wyse terminal produced in the old colours still!
The larger black ones are R class, the biggest R class is not pictured.
