Steam - Oblivion and Morrowind 3 DELUXE on Steam Weekend Deal!

Tempted, as I don't have any of the additional content or expansions, but I don't think I can face modding the whole thing to my liking again :)

always wondered how good these are, hovering over purchase for oblivion....worth while purchase?

or should i play morrowind to get any kind of storyline stuff first?

Definatally a great deal for Morrowind but sadly games are never as good second time round (for me) and id only get bored. Shame, but ive learnt not to bother buying games ive already played; just cant seem to get into them again.

Sometimes i think it would be great to be able to errase my memory of great music, games and films so i could enjoy them all over!

Which mods for Oblivion does everybody recommend?

There's a few ginormous threads here if you search, there are literally thousands of mods available. There are three basic types though, and if you haven't played before I'd only use the first group and a few of the second -

1. Graphics & environment mods - texture upgrades, weather packages, city remodelling. Go nuts with these, they make the game look amazing.

2. Annoyance removers - decent UI packages, no psychic guards (so you can actually be a thief properly), shop changes (so each shopkeeper doesn't have only a limited amount of gold to buy your stuff), that kind of thing.

3. Complete overhauls - to change the fighting system, the way leveling works, the magic system etc. Play at least a few hours of vanilla oblivion before even thinking of installing any of these.

Very tempting. I must not get back into Oblivion - too much of a time sink!

So much time I have put in to this game too. Think I was level 49 last time I played my save.... very tempting to buy it so it's on my steam and I don't have to bother with all the resinstalling it from the DVD again. Plus I never had all of the expansion packs.

Thanks for that. I have played it before and got a third to half way through then lost my saved games so never restarted it.

Guess I best do some reading up of which mods to install. :(

Great games but you don't need to play morrowind to understand or enjoy oblivion.

Installing morrowind as we speak. God I love steam!

Has anyone got any links for some good morrowind mods? Just looking for texture/graphics upgrades and a shopkeeper upgrade so you can actually sell your expensive gear, that are compatible with steam. Not looking for massive overhauls just useful tweaks and improvements.

edit- Went with Morrowind's Riches, Better Bodies and Visual Pack. Have I missed anything?

Install the morrowind graphics extender.....

Are there any limitations with the Steam version of Oblivion as regards modding? ie can the same mods for the disc version be used with the DL version?

Ahhh i have the CD combo with Bioshock + Elder Scolls IV, but this would be so much easier to have, plus it comes with the expansions. Hmmm very tempting.
