Hiya Guys

Moving out in the next 3 months and was wondering if anyone had any sort of ideas on cost of the Bills (Water, Gas, Elec)

Its going to be a 2 Bedroom semi Detached House in Milton Keynes Buckinghamshire.

And we will be using the appliances about the same amount as what most people would. 4 showers a day, no baths and having the PC and TV on for around 7 hours a day if not less on work days.

I dont need exact figures just roughly how much do similar people on here pay for that kind of size of home and usage.

been thinking.

Gas: £40 p/m
Water £40 p/m
elec: £50

Is it 2 people or 4? (Some people shower twice a day).

You'll need to factor in washing machine water usage.

I've been keeping record of my and my gf's usage in a 1 bed flat.

We go through 2 cubic metres of water each week, that's 2 showers a day, 2 loads of washing a week, general tooth brushing and washing up (no dishwasher) and toilet usage (8 flushes a day on average I guess)

This is about £2.50 a week from out water supplier.

Cool this was 2 people using the shower morning and night so 4 showers in total.
So your doing about £10 a month then. this gets paid quarterly also doesnt it ?

I'll give you our numbers for 2 living in a 3 bed semi. We are both at work most days and we watch what we use carefully. Gas supplies hot water, CH and the hob, electric supplies the shower and main oven

Water: 28 (flat rate)
Electric: 30
Gas: 30
TV: 13
Phone: 25
Internet: 7.50
Food: 250
House insurance: 30
Council Tax: 150

i think thats everything but I may have missed something.

Regarding electricity, it really will vary from person to person, we use £30 a month, a few others on here in another thread use that a WEEK and its also just for 2.

good luck :)

A tenner of metered usage, but this does not include the standing fee and waste water charges (I won't know these until we get our first bill.)

I think the standing fee is £25 for the year (£2 a month), but I'm not sure how waste water will be charged for.

I budgeted high (£50 a month), but expect it to be in the £25-£30 range realistically.

I'll easy use 30 - 40 quid of Leccy a week but I have No Gas at all.
10megWeb/TV/housephone is 31 quid a month.
TV license is 8 quid a month.
Water is about a tenner a month.
Council tax about 80 a month. Get a 25% discount for being solo.

Think that's about it.
I can get my Leccy down to about 20 - 25 quid in the Summer.

Cool cheers for all your help guys.
My figures look abour right then :)
Looking at bundling my Sky TV, broadband and line rental + phone for £76 which i think is pretty good.

depends on what you are getting in that bundle really mate.

I have SkyHD but only the main package at £28 a month, BT anytime phone at £17 a month (the rest is calls), and BeBroadband at 7.50 a month.

Are you Mad ?
I get 10 meg cable TV pack & House phone for 31 quid a month.
Sky rep knocked my door two days ago telling me he could half my costs, After I told him what I got he said Bye. :p

Wish i could get cable in my area :(

8 flushes a day...

Do you and your bird have diarrhea all the time?

When its yellow let it mellow, when its brown, flush it down!

I read somewhere its cost 20p per flush in water charges. That was many years ago so probably 25p now. So £2 a day just on toilet flushing!

Me and the bloke in a 2bed flat in Brizzle:

28 water/sewage (flat rate)
100 council tax
40-50ish gas & elec (that'll increase come winter - a we have combi boiler for central heating and non-power shower - no immersion heater/tank, also single-glazed windows)
20 broadband

Heres my numbers for me living alone in a 3 bedroom semi..

Electric - £60 pm
Gas - £20pm (summer at the moment so no heating on)
Water - £30 pm
Council Tax - £80 pm (25% discount)
Internet & Phone - £40 pm
I don't bother with a cable TV or license so save a bit of cash doing that as I never watch TV.

I'll agree with you on that one! I've been with them for the last few years, I've only ever had a couple minor outages and my speeds have always been 50meg.. :)

+1 cable pawns all solid 20mb all year but for a short span of 3-7hours it went down to 2-3mb :)

You do know that they can still fine you for not having an TV license as you have internet which is capable of watching TV.

My mate at uni got stung by this and didnt have a leg to stand on.

That can't be right.

My area charges 88p for 1 cubic metre of water, which is 1,000 litres.

A large cistern will only hold about 9 litres.

Wastewater charges are 54p per 1,000 litres.

So let's say the cistern is 10 litres, 100 flushes would cost 88p + 54p.
100 flushes is therefore £1.42, or £0.0142 per flush.

For two us living in a three bed semi we pay.

£40 Gas
£55 Electric
£30 Water
£45 TV/Internet
£10 Licence Fee
£175 Council Tax

~ £350 / Month
