Within about a minute of posting my Volvo on gumtree, I got a suspicious reply.
So far I've just replied in a relatively tame manner.
Since I'm pretty sure this is a scam. I'm open to suggestions for replies if he gets back to me.
You have received a reply to your Gumtree posting "1993 Volvo 940 Wentworth 2.0 turbo auto estate" (ad# 60070602) from joe larry <***@ymail.com>:
Hello,
I'm joe and i came accross your contact details through web directory (wrong website) concerning the car you have for sale (generic text) and im highly interested in purchasing it . I will like (Nigerian-like English) to know all the details about the car before proceeding with the payment.....
1. How long have you owned it?
2. Why are you selling it? (stated in the advert)
3. Last Price?
So your swift response to these required information would be highly entertained before proceeding to the next stage, the method of payment is Cheque. Kindly email back, if it's still forsale.
Hope to hear from you Asap.
Regards
joe

I have owned it since November last year. I am selling it as I have just recieved a company car and need to free up space to park it.
I originally bought it for £500.
Please note that if paying by cheque I will need to wait for it to clear due to the risk of fraud.
