Just wondering if there is a list around somewhere? I know Red Dead Redemption is 1080p but what else?

RDR is not 1080p. Its 720p upscaled to 1080p if you set it to output at 1080p.

Think some Arcade titles would be 1080p. Virtua Tennis is the only one I can think off that I know is 1080p though.

Well some games have 1080p in the features on the back, what sets them apart from 720p then or is it just a marketing ploy?

Thats just the supported resolutions for the TV.

The game can be native 540p, 640p, 720p, 1080p and anything really in between those if the developer chooses.

Most games are/should be 720p, but can be upscaled to 1080p which is why its on the back of the box.

Example would be MW2. Its like 640p or something, but says 720p and 1080p on the box since it can be displayed at those resolutions. Doesn't mean that that is its native res though.

Tbh I'm not gonna look at any games native res anymore. There are a lot of things that can be done to produce a great image, even if the res is low.

Alan Wake for example is something like 960x540 which is very low. But in motion, the game looks pretty good considering its resolution.

Same with MW2, it looks fine when you play it, just when standing still and looking closely its a bit ruff around the edges.

So if you have a 1080p TV, is it worth selecting that resolution, or sticking with 720p?

All of them and none of them. The highest it can render internally is 720p and then it scales everything to whatever resolution you choose. So your tv sees 1080p, but none of it was rendered that high.

It was more of a wow at the fact it looks so good when I'm playing it I wouldn't even notice being 'sub HD'.

Its funny because cod has a better image quality than the vast majority of games. Its clean and smooth, something not even plain 720p can do without aa.

i think this is what might make the next gen more interesting

1080p rendering for all games would be a good thing

Would be nice, but I don't think it will happen. The Generation after next maybe. Next gen will hopefully have a minimum of 720p with 4xAA, although MS did say that the 360 would have a minimum of 720p on all games, which obviously didn't happen.
