hi chris,
Im having the same problems using the same memory but ony 3 modules and the motherboard only detecting 4gb instead of 6gb. May be something to do with qpi/dram voltage or voltage frequency but im not touching that as im not experienced. Anyone got any ideas how to do this?
For RAM problems try "Memory Configuration Protect" "Enabled" in the BIOS as it worked with the guy in this vid when it would only detect 16GB or his 24GB

I turned this on but still nothing, still 4gb. The guy in the video wasnt using the same ram as me aswel. Asus need to get this sorted out. They build a nice new board and some of the top memory out doesnt even run in it....
Do they normaly bring out bio updates on motherboards for memory compatibility after release date?
Thanks. Now I'm thinking as the board is going into an 800D case, which has 3 120mm top exhaust fans, I would like to position the cooler with the fans blowing upwards (2 apaches in push/pull). So I would also have to consider if the bottom fan would foul the boards chipset sinks ?
I think i may have destroyed mine already. I had all my memory in and now it doesnt work. It boots but no display... either that or my graphics card doesnt work. Keyboard and mouse also are not working. Any ideas? Is it dead? lol
I had a look at the slot next to the cpu:

You may just squeeze a ram stick in there.

The fan will not go over the stick with the fin attached and may have to be raised slightly when it’s removed.
Any reason for 12GB, are you doing video editing?
As to the fans blowing upwards, you will have the push fan getting restricted and warm air coming up from the graphics card. The ram will also be covered by the cooler. I would have the push/pull setup blowing out through the rear and not the top.
Wow, thanks for your help mate. Much appreciated.
Yes, I do video editing on an amateur basis. I'd probably get away with 6gigs, but heh, I have the memory now so may as well use it. I also run a lot of VM's. I'm sure it probably helps.
thanks again
