Hi guys, gonna upgrade my monitor to be full HD and buy a Blu ray player while im at it. Currently have this in my baskey (both this week only)

Now is this monitor decent? Considering im upgrading from basically a slightly smaller 22" version (Samsung Syncmaster T220). Any other monitor I should be getting fro that price or cheaper as I dont want to spend any more than that.

Yeah I looked at that one, I dont think it looks as nice as the Samsung. Whats the benefit if any of LED backlighting?

Well the look is all opinion so I just went of price and specs, not to mention the Acer is much cheaper when the Sammy goes off this week only, so if you wanted to wait you could.

Tough call - I'm planning on upgrading from my T220 too. The T220 is a very good TN panel. The B2430H isn't bad, but if I was you I'd try and see one in the flesh first.

If you're a gamer, you might want to go for the ViewSonic:

I'm leaning more towards the Dell 2209WA:

Still a 22", but a huge upgrade in terms of picture quality.

I think the TC wants a bigger 1920x1080 for HD stuff, even though I would go for the Dell.

I really don't see the point in paying more for the difference between 5ms and 2ms, the Acer or Samsung would be fine for gaming.

Yeah was looking at a 24". Dell is abit on the expensive side, as I can get the screen and Blu ray + delivery for that price.

Yea one 5770 would be good enough, but not ideal. Two is perfect.

Also people should stop suggesting IPS panels, yes they are great but clearly not what the OP is after.

Heh, agreed. My current monitor is 2ms but the ones I'm looking at are 5ms. I doubt that really matters surely?

Yeah as I said before and like someone else said, I doubt you would notice the difference, I personally always go for 5ms, I don't feel the premium price is worth it, unless you are playing CS LAN games or something, then I guess 120Hz 2ms panels make a little more sense

i have the view sonic monitor linked in a post above and its truly amazing the colours are so vibrant and sharp.

on another point, i would not see a difference between 2ms and 5 even tho its tempting to get one of the new viewsonic's with 1ms response time :)

Good choice IMO. I never hopped on the Bluray bandwagon, even thought I have a PS3 to play them on, only really because they are expensive and I know if I started I wouldn't be able to go back to normal DVD lol.

Enjoy.

Nah I wasn't going to either but that Blu ray drive is pretty cheap now, especially since they used to cost hundreds of pounds. Ofc the better ones are still a rip :D
