From a car owners perspective , What is the best country to live in?

Oh god, it's MrLOL.

Laguna Seca is a great track yes, but 95% of the USA is further away from there than the UK is from the Nurburgring and Spa Francorchamps. We also have some fantastic tracks in this country, ask your missus for permission to have a go on one sometime.

What you mean like my lap of Rockingham Last year ?

I get another one next month at croft as well :D

We had great fun last at last years event having a play with the wheel gun changing wheels on the touring cars.

Are you comming on this years VXR track days ?

whats that ? your not ??

Such a shame. It would appear you missed my thread

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18123740&highlight=trackday

Would appear you've also missed

Watkins Glen, Sears Point, Barber Motorsports Park, Miller Motorsports Park, Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta, Road America, Lime Rock

as well.

Oh and did we mention the nice weather the southern US has ? Must suck so hard having it 30 + all summer.

I would say America is the best for ownership as it's cheap fuel wise and insurance wise to the point where young drivers have almost no limitation to there first car
ie i've spoken to plenty of Americans that have dodge chargers in 300 hp forms or something similar and are only 18 or so

Hahaha sorry, I just can't take you seriously anymore after seeing those pictures so I'll stop replying. Keep up the wheelnut changing, you look like a real pro!

They seem to have plenty of fun to me ? :D

Instead I'd take your average UK A/B road, thanks.

Next you'll have videos of them driving a car with their feet on the tarmac....

Petrol prices really has little influence as far as Im concerned, these crazy prices yet getting a sensible income as a typical resident and quality road is a totally different kettle of fish.

I think the USA would be great, not only for the attributes of the cars, clubs and the huge variety of road on offer but that its a socially acceptable activity to drive a nice 'flash' car.

Its not even your car, so Im sure its a lot of fun but really... what else do you take away from it? Its the only chance many of us get to drive cars at 100% commitment.

I see little benefit having such high ambient temperatures when you're talking about driving.

and i suppose you would be a professional pit mechanic in your spare time would you ?

Such a shame you cant join us at croft. Theres quite a few from OcUK going. Would be nice for you to drive round some of these tracks you seem so fond of !

take your holidays in greenland do you ? ;)

England has so many B-roads that you can just get lost down and end up miles from home. Other country's may have more spectacular scenery but that soon ends and before you know it your back on a motorway.
With a fun handling car little can match England's country roads.

Even with our love affair with speed camara's, i'd much rather take a good country B road than the autobahn/route66.

Considering a holiday would be me getting away from cars then it doesn't really matter where I would go ;) Its highly unlikely I would go on a driving holiday and if I did I would go in my car which rules out most of the world.... including Greenland. It would be pretty sad to go to many of the wonderful countries and waste your time driving around.

Yeah it's a shame, maybe one day I'll get to drive on them - next time you're down there let me know, can I have a go in the Volvo?

you should be a politician with question dodging skills like that.

Nice. Compromised performance AND uncomfortably hot driving conditions, sounds like the recipe for the perfect track day! :).

sure why dont you come to the Croft Day with us ?

http://www.vxrpowerevents.co.uk/vxr-track-day.aspx

Unfortunately Croft on the 28th of July is sold out, so you cant drive. You'll just have to sit on the sides and be an armchair expert.

Oh aye

Thouroughly compromised.

Who would want to go somewhere like this

Whats that got to do with anything, if I was going on a track day I would not want it to be a +30C day.

Wow its 30C but the tarmacs melting, the road is crap and the engine feels a bit down on power :P This is great for driving.... not.

Nice picture of a static car with a blue sky. Could be any car show in the world really couldn't it? Infact there are clouds, last week there were no clouds here.

You can tell that pic was taken in the USA because of the clarity of the pic - it's because of the cleaner air there.

The main barrier to distance though is travel cost. I'd go to Spa all the time if it cost 50 quid in fuel to get there.

oh you arent half a miserable git on these forums. You'd argue with your own shadow if you could. Stop trying to pretend that nice weather is a bad thing !

You are joking right?

We have some great B roads I agree but the notion that everywhere else in the world it 'soon ends' and you are 'back on a Motorway' couldnt be further from the truth. Sounds more like a description of the UK to me.

How much of the USA can you get to and from Laguna Seca for 50 quid?

For the same price I could drive from here to Silverstone, Donington, Thruxton, Brands and Castle Coombe at least.

How many trackdays have you done in the UK Fox? If none then why not?
