Does this sound ok for my golf mk5 68k, got them to price match as much as I could:

Full Service inc filters etc: £200
Brake Fluid: £50
Mot: £45

Other local vw garage is cheaper by £10

Thanks.

It all depends what the 'full service' includes imo.

Quite often a service is just engine oil and filter, air filter, sparks.
A service can include various fluids such as engine collant, air-con service, new belts, fuel filter, gearbox oil.

If you buy the parts yourself the engine oil is £15-25, oil filter £5-£10, air filter £5, sparks £10.
All depends how new the car is really and if you think the full service history is worth it.

An indy garage will be cheaper I would think I reckon you should get a quote off a few.

Fair point, I forgot about sourcing parts myself and just getting a garage to fit, don't really mind about full service history as its a 2004 model.

MOT price if fine.

Full Service price is also about right (you could proabably get it abit cheaper by going to an independent, but if the rest of your history if from VW then I wouldn't ruin it).

Don't buy parts from a dealer, as the manufacturer buys parts from suppliers that are 'badged up' by VW (just like any car, aggricultural machine etc) and dealers never have anything in stock and 'order in' so the price you pay has to incorporate that cost too.

If the service is just going to be engine oil and filter, air filter, sparks then by all means have a bash at it yourself and keep the receipt of the parts as proof of service when you come to sell it. Paying an £120 (ish) labour for a stealer to do it year upon year is massively more costly than the depreciation of the car due to not having full dealer service history.

Full service: Please tell us what 'full' includes!
Brake Fluid: 90% of that will be due to labour costs, but I would get a dealer to do brakes as they are pretty important:p
Mot: Price is fine

I believe the service included air/pollen/oil filters, Oil change, and checks - should have asked properly, the email just says 20k standard service.

Is euro car parts and gsf ok to source parts?

I won't have the time to do it myself but I will learn to do it one day :)

Seems fine to me.

Doubtless a load of people will tell you its a con and you should do it yourself with some Tesco oil or something, mind.

Well with the Motor at 68k I would have thought he was looking to keep his service history intact but then forgive me for reading the OP properly Before i posted.

OP.
Seems fine to me but I would get them to list Exactly what they are going to do for the price first.

My approval is subject to that 200 quid being more than just an oil and filter change mind, but you say its a full service so I presume it must be.

Basically everything serviceable to be changed with Gen parts & there to be No scratches on my wings. :p
Sorry i am to mashed to write a list. :o

^^ the game doesn't start for hours yet :p

Still Monstered from last night. :o Woke at 4am still monstered so carried on. :D
I'll be asleep in my chair this arvo dribbling down my t shirt then I'm up, A shower then off over for a gathering of Patriots. :D

I have a very similar question re: my 2001 Lupo. It's 111,000 miles and will need a new timing belt at 120,000, as well as all the usual sparks, filters.

Will £250 include *everything* (e.g. timing belt)?

Original VW garage or my local friendly mechanic?

Gen parts or any?

Thanks
