You just don't go in there acting like an arse or thinking you know it all.

I read the post in question and a few others and it did seem he flew off the rails a little to easily; but you say there is nothing wrong with motors yet one of the people involved in the thread within the op here decided to come across and post an excellent comment as below, oh the ironing

Considering the OP made reference to me in his post I thought I would exercise my right to opinion. ichabod crane, care to show me any childish behaviour from myself? I don't believe a threw a tantrum and started swearing at people?

I often find most of the problems that motors has, solely reside in the mind of the accuser.

I appreciate that myself mate & Yes some People do deserve to be pulled on BS etc but there is just No community feel in Motors because of the attitude of the google boyz.

The multiple Motors meets every year would suggest otherwise.. They are incredibly popular and have an excellent community feel to them. To an outsider who knows nothing about cars, I can see why they'd feel intimidated though.

I found it childish because you could have been the better person and not posted your comment in here, you made your point to the op clear in the original thread.

I think the comment about 'outsiders knowing nothing about cars' is rather telling there.
As a photography noob I feel I can come into this section of the forum and receive advice from people who actually want to help me.

I'd never ask for advice in motors the way it is at the moment, as I'd expect to be told to buy a BMW, and then interrogated about my finances by a few people who seem more concerned about their image on the forum than with genuinely being helpful. Of course, not everyone there is like that, but it does seem a hostile place to those not in the 'clique'.

Have to admit it is the few that spoil it for the many within Motors, also people don't do themselves any favours by posting total cow poo.

But some of the attitudes shown towards other people are sometimes beyond belief and akin to a school playground.

I take your point about the meets Peter and that's good but to casual section browser it looks like anything but a community.

Seems cars stir emotions more than I could ever appreciate.

Mind you, I've often thought the punishments are way too strict on this forum, even I got warned for one of my threads for promoting illegal copying of a particular OS, which wasn't even true. I emailed one of the Mods and never even got a reply...

Also when you say Popular you mean what 100 members ? There are around 30,000 members on these boards, What percentage is that ?

There isn't a Single person here that can say I am not Community minded & I speak out & tell it as it is Without any alterior motives.

It can be a bit daft at times, but I think his bizarre rant was worthy of the ban stick. If you do get banned/suspended, don't go to the irc channel. The fan boys rant at you

About 20/30/40.. it varies. I'd consider that successful considering there are normally about 4/5 meetings per year. I think only Photography has meetings aswell on OcUK so that shows where the two best communities are if the members want to meet up with people they met in the interweb.

Ohh and come along malc. We are really nice when we haven't got our keyboards with us.

Well I reckon if it was a Sociable section then Hundreds would attend as we All Love cars don't we.
We All have Motors & could easily attend but only 40 max do, That says Plenty to me.

Actually there are quite often meets organised in GD, I organised a Glasgow one not long ago. There have been multiple Edinburgh ones and we also get people coming from all over the country.
