Anyone else feel sick of the world cup before it even started? I feel like I could have probably enjoyed the thing if it wasn't plastered all over every type of media known to man 24/7 for the past few months, kinda had my fill if you know what I mean.

LOL even more oversaturation with this thread. The football stadium is that way. :D

I don't have a problem with the World Cup or genuine commercials from official sponsors, what does bore me though are all the commercials that just jump on the football bandwagon because it's the World Cup.

A couple of examples I can think of, from the top of my head:

- We Buy Any Car - With the woman presenting the advert kicking a football around along with some men in the background. Has absolutely nothing to do with the advert or what they are selling.

- Nationwide - (I think, they aren't the only ones) If England get into the Final or something, we will pay you a bonus to your bank account.

- British Gas - There latest 3D commercial has a football being kicked from each of it's little 'house worlds'... again, nothing to do with football.

I can understand TV manufacturers, supermarkets and betting shops, as it's obviously prime football related sales time for them. The most rememberd advert of this World Cup will no doubt be the Adidas Originals commercial that aired yesterday during the game and was the top trending topic on Twitter for the UK. That didn't really have anything to do with Football, but tied it in very well with players and was ORIGINAL.

I can just see the Advertising Execs meeting with their clients in the planning room to work out there latest summer commercials...

"Well, the World Cup is on, so we should probably try and get football in there somewhere." - Ad Exec 1

"Well, we are only selling Cheese, is Football really going to sell our product?" - Ad Exec 2

"It's the World Cup, everyone loves football and everyone will be doing it, so we have to as well..." - Ad Exec 3

*YAWN*

Switched it on... Could hear nothing but fog horns... Casually watched for 10 mins or so whilst having tea... Silly noises wouldn't go away, so I turned it off and watched a new ep of Stargate Universe instead :)

I'm so fed up of hearing about something that I'm going to start a thread about it!

lol

:D

i would realllllllllllly love to be proud about football. or even remotely interested in like the rest of the yons - sorry english population. but i can't.

was watching-being forced to watch it last night in the pub. came home after half an hour as i just couldn't be interested in it. then today all i've heard is about how crap we were. that kinda proves my disinterest lol. :p

Nationwide are the official sponsors of the England team, but I agree about the general comment about everyone jumping on the bandwagon.

Agreed, nice to see something a bit different

no

I am a bit sick of the advertising and all of the companies desperate to associate their products with the teams/event. As for the event itself, really enjoying it and wish all the moaning sods would **** off, its once every four years for christ's sake, let us get on with enjoying the greatest sporting event on earth!
